Trainer O'neill fires back at Dolphins

Exhibit A that you suck at comprehension and also chose to ignore my other posts. I will reiterate, as I already did before: If they relied on his opinion as the *final word*, then they should be fired. I even qualified that for you, and you *still chose to ignore it*.

You said - and I quote: "if the front office was asking him to provide a medical opinion, then *they* should have been fired", which can be reasonably interpreted as ANY medical advice, not just "final word". What you said was incorrect. That is where the argument lies. You said head trainers provide no medical advice, I disagreed. Now you want to reframe the argument into who has "final word", when it was originally about the role of a head trainer. Seems like you dont really have a point to make.

Want to know who has "final word"? The GM, not a doctor.

No, I'm not reframing anything. I clarified for you because you struggled to comprehend things. What I said was a direct response to datruth's statement (which provided, you know, the context). If you actually read it all, you would have understood what I meant. Instead, you have chosen to just be a semantics nazi because you have nothing else to fall back on. And that's fine.

Enjoy your night.

FL is an "at-will" state, meaning employers do not need just cause to fire an employee. They can fire an employee without warning, for any reason, as long as it is not discriminatory. I think O'Neill was also paid the balance of his contract. I'm no lawyer, but I don't see how this case will go very far.
It's the Attorneys trying to get the balance of his contract for themselves. He's going to pay the Attorney's to sue for what? He collected his remaining wages. There are no damages.

It won't. But he definitely assured that he will have a job again in the NFL, and will get
paid for not working. Looks like he kept the to the code.

He's going to be employed again.
Everyone's watching and, people value people that don't snitch.

I think that Kevin O'Neill showed poor judgement by not cooperating with the Wells investigation. It was his right to take a very strict HIPPA interpretation as the cover and refuse to answer all questions, but ultimately he should have known that there would be consequences. After the NFL engaged Wells, it was always going to be a big deal and it wasn't just going to disappear. O'Neill should have had an attorney with him and attempted to be more cooperative. It is unfortunate that his stellar career was halted by this issue, but he lives with the consequences. He could have asked the Jeff Ireland, Dawn Aponte and Joe Philbin about his predicament and sought their advice, but it appears that he preferred to be difficult and uncooperative.
He may have a legal case to pursue a big payout but it will probably be painful. All he had to do was answer honestly and show some respect.
I would not be surprised if Goodell leaned on Stephen Ross to axe O'Neill. The NFL Commissioner made the decision to address the allegations seriously by appointing Wells to do the investigation.
I don't see any need to show any respect for a witch hunt.
He kept quiet, utilizing legal means.
If anything, in my opinion, he's enhanced his career.
It may be a couple of years, but I promise you that he'll be back in the big time again,
largely because he's now known to not snitch.

Trainers are expendable. There are so many good quality trainers that would love to be an NFL trainer. When you dont cooperate with the NFL there are penalties that go along with it. Could care less what else he did but not cooperating with your employer is grounds for dismissal.

don't really care what he has to say.If he has an issue take it to the grievance committee or the courts

It has nothing to do with semantics. There was no ambiguity in your statements. They were clearly contradictory. But whatever, guys like you are always a moving target...

And apparently he is pretty well known and respected. He's not necessarily bad at his job, but he was in a bad situation that apprears to be isolated. He will def work again.

He's fine.

I'm sure he knows that. He'll have to stay out of sight for a few years, but, he'll be back.

You would be incorrect (because you obviously chose not to read everything; still waiting on that one) , but that's fine. You are free to have an uninformed opinion just like everyone else. Appreciate the ad hominem, to boot.

Yep. It's officially the offseason here at FH.

We're at each other's throats over the frigging trainer. :bobdole:

 I love this place.

Ha, yeah. I just put him on ignore as I realized it's pointless trying to reason with "those types". At least I got my taxes done. But now my kid won't sleep. :(
