Training Camp Tweets 8/6

Mind blowing isn't it?

Not really because all the players are good enough to make football a professional career meaning they are the best of the best. In practice especially a defense can see the offense so much they can read their own offense easier than a team they study for only on tape for a week. RT would be more sharp IMO when he's facing a team that doesn't see him day in and day out. Our defense is good and they are going to make any QB have bad days if they play against them daily.

I'm watching Tyler Larsen work today & I've got to say he's been solid as the 3rd center. Why didn't he ever get called up to 2nd team?

This is one of the first times I'm watching the Dolphins OGs pull. Tyler Larsen is pretty good in the run game.

It seems the brain trust has tagged Larsen as a project they hope to stash on the PS.

I realize Satele was brought in as a vet to help calm down the line. There is something to be said for a known quantity when trying to bring a completely new group of OL together.

I just hope they are not keeping Larsen's name out of the rotations to hide a player they feel has real potential.

Irony: Colts signing Larsen, as we try to get him on the PS, who then becomes better than Satele with more upside at C than anyone on our team except Pouncey.

I keep reading posters say the battle for the RG spot is very tight, but when you read the tweets, Dallas Thomas is getting by far the greater number of reps than Billy Turner. I don't think its that close for the moment. If Turner can clean up his details, he could be in the picture but I believe the starting lineup for Game 1 vs the Pats is more or less set.

From appearances, Cone at WR seems to be getting a good amount of time with Tannehill - unexpected to say the least. Or am I missing something.

There's been posts/tweets to say that Turner is doing a job physically but technique is lacking. I'll be keen to see him against Atlanta. For OL physicality you can't teach - technique you can, so from my standpoint there's some positives here - he just needs reps.

It sounds like he is throwing to the 2s and 3s almost exclusively.

Given that Hartline and Gibson are both recovering from knee injuries, I'm mildly concerned. I can't imagine they would have him throwing to Rishard Matthews + camp fodder when installing a new offense unless there was some underlying reason there.

I see it as nothing more than an early attempt at trying to weed though our substantial depth and talent at the WR position. We'll carry 5-6 on the final roster, IMO.

We don't know what Joe's thought process here is, so we are obviously all just speculating, but...

... we are installing a new offense. You really think they are trying to sift through bubble guys right now rather than getting the top of the depth chart to master the offense?

I don't know whether to be more concerned by that possibility or that of Hartline and Gibson still being limited.

It was good to read Pouncey was killing it again in the ladder drills.

One of the big topics today was the team doing more offensive drills in the bubble because it was stuff they will be using during games. 560QAM also commented on it as well.

Something that doesn't sit right with me is Tannehill doesn't seem to be throwing much to Hartline, Wallace, Gibson and Landry. I wonder if they want to give the bottom roster WR's a good look before deciding who to cut.

My thoughts the last few days were this: They dont want to show the goods while camp is open to public. Waiting to shut it down, then Lazor gets his true read on the O.

Also, based on RT's interview yesterday and what he was saying....they are trying things out. RT knows his bread and butter and alot of the new stuff already. They are trying to see how expanded their game prep play selection can be.

Philbin dont play rookies. billy gets his shot later. minus landry/James :)

Coaches and GM are trying to figure out who they can look back to should guys get picked up off PS later. Some stay only to be switched out. Its a game of chess outside the game itself for the GM.

When I see Kevin Cone in pics I think this guy is big and developed physically.

Who can get cut only to be available to us later anyways? Belichick will dangle guys out there with the thought no one will want them or they dont end up where they went in the long haul.

alright qb with a bounce back day today now that install is over i expect more of those...give me a td drive vs the falcons 1s...i'm looking forward to jake mathews going up against cam wake...biermann fought mathews in camp day 1 cause he was pretty much getting his assed whooped on every rep by the top pick
