Yet one of Gase's biggest critics in the last 2 days was championing Philbin as a better than average HC up until the time he was kicked to the curb. You really can't make this **** up.

Never a fan of Cutler. Didn't like the way he played, and didn't want him him in a Miami uniform.
But, now that he is, well, I guess time will tell. Still think Moore deserves fair shot at starting.

Moore has had a fair shot at starting. In the NFL, owners are interested in selling a winning product to the fans and it's the coaches job to put his team in the best position to win. Our coach doesn't see Moore as the best option of those available to help the team win as many games as possible.

The year Gase worked with Cutler...the receivers were awful.

Cutler has a talented offense around him here...and Gase will have him getting the ball out quickly..this should excite everyone.

I'm old enough to remember a quarterback who was considered a flop until he was about Cutler's age and landed on the Oakland Raiders....Jim Plunkett went on to win 2 Superbowls.

This is a good situation....trust in Gase!

That's a good point on Plunkett. Hated the Raiders, but loved Plunkett's story and how he overcame some bad seasons with some really pathetic teams.

I don't think Jim Plunkett and Jay Cutler are a good comparison, but you're correct that Gase and Cutler worked very well together in 2015 in Chicago considering the circumstances.

I had a post about this in VIP a while back, but the number of games the Bears lost from their skill players due to injury was nuts. Bennett, Jeffrey, and Forte (their only 3 offensive weapons) all missed multiple games and then came back to play injured, and their OL was no bueno. Cutler also got hurt early in the year and came back and played a lot of games when he wasn't at 100%. He missed the entire Seattle game and Jimmy Clausen was so insanely bad they had to rush Cutler back early.

So I'm not a big fan of Jay Cutler, we have definitely downgraded at QB by losing Ryan Tannehill, but the fact is that Jay Cutler + Matt Moore is a QB combo that will give us a chance to win football games and have a fun season.

#1 concern with Jay Cutler right now is that he was dinged up pretty good last season too, and if he's not healthy then that's going to be a whole 'nother problem.

This in a nutshell.

That being said, he is one hell of a teammate . . .and for a guy who doesn't have the upside to be a trusted starter for a season, when it comes to needing a guy to come in when your QB goes down and right the ship . . .he is about as good as it gets from a veteran standpoint.

I know many teams carry two QBs now . . . If we draft a QB and Ryan is healthy, I would hope we hold on to Matt and carry 3.

Who would have thought that Godchaux would end up being one of the more notable draft picks....I thought these were just developmental/depth picks, but the guy seems like is out there earning his time.

Gotta love those players who give 100% all the time.
