Would you rather build up false confidence in Daniels only to have him shredded when he faces another team? If he's going to get burned let it be in practice. He should respond by working harder to learn his position so that he doesnt get burned so much. If he responds by losing confidence in himself and giving up then he would never have made it in the NFL anyway.
Yes, I would rather build confidence in him even if it is somewhat false confidence. Confidence makes a corner better. His reactions are quicker, he doesn't question his instincts. By giving him that "false confidence" while simultaneously schooling his mistakes and teaching him technique, you are making him a better player. Take away his confidence and you can school him on his mistakes and teach him all the technique in the world he'll still go out there and get burned.
