Tremendous First Day for Miami

I'm as happy as you guys too.The funny thing is we could take a DT next. What's funny about that? Some people on here think we already took too much defence and not enough ofence so they're not gonna be happy with more defence but I think we should keep taking the best players on the board.I could see us taking Elton Brown tho.

Ozzy rules!!

After dwelling on it overnight, I am still as happy now as I was when I went to bed. I see three very good football players - all three had R1 value. The Brown pick was solid - best back in the draft and fits the scheme perfectly. All these people complaining about not trading down or not taking Edwards, well, that's their lookout, suffice to say that if the guy - Brown - is your #1 player, then you take him. And as for not trading, you can't trade if no-one wants to play ball.

Roth is a brilliant pick. He'll play some end, some DT and some OLB. He is Miami's Mike Vrabel, a poor man's David Pollack. He has the intensity, the hands, the relentless, the speed and the desire to be a very good player in this system.

Crowder is a top 15 talent who fell yo us because of the knees. But not only did the former Miami doctor, now the Gator Dr give him the all clear, he also got the all cleear from one of the premier knee surgeons in the world who sent a letter to all 32 teams saying he was fine.

The letter:
"The patient has had three anterior cruciate ligament reconstructions on the right knee, and a right partial medial meniscectomy. He has had one anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction on his left knee. The current grafts in place are both autografts to bone, patellar tendon bone, and with these grafts, he has had three years without any problems. He currently participates in all sorts of activities without any swelling present in either knee, or any instability episodes. He played last season with no bracing on either knee and without any problems. Both knees are stable at this time with no evidence of any degenerative changes.

“There is no reason why this young man cannot continue to play football, even at the highest level with the current status of his knees. He has played collegiate football at a competitive university for two years without any problems in his knees. He has excellent strength of both legs. I feel confident that the patient is not at any increased risk of having additional ACL tears. He is released at this time for all football activities."

If he can stay healthy, he'll be a Pro Bowler at worst and both he and Roth will be ST demons. Really solid first day for us, especially when you look at the AFC East and see that Pats reach at 1 for Mankins, the Jets take a kicker, etc.

There seems to be a lot of people complaining why we took an end and a LB.....clearly you haven't seen the age on our squad.

I'm looking at Fred Gibson, maybe Elton Brown, Antajj Hawthorne, David Green, maybe Shazor, Sean Considine at the start of 4, but don't rule out a trade for picks as teams have a night to re-stack their boards.

Overall, no matter what the Florida papers, with their anti Saban mentality, because he's shutting them out, say. This has been a great day 1. 45 minutes till day 2 and hopefully we can add some talent.

I agree, excellent draft............the common theme in all these picks is players with non-stop motors, Roth and Crowder will both impact this defense and are the kind of players that fit the mold of a Saban/Belichek player.

With that in mind Gibson doesn't seem to have that non-stop motor, nor does Hawthorne, David Greene is gone. I would like to see McPherson at this point, I love the first day but I still don't feel good about our QB situation.

I agree completely- great first day. I'm very satisfied so far. For those who are b*tching and moaning for one reason or another- just remember- Nick Saban has more knowledge of these players in his little toe than you have in your entire bodies, so give it a rest.

I'm hoping we take a chance on Mcpherson too. The QB situation needs to be addressed.

I still think O-line is a bigger need, and if we got Elton Brown I would start Worshiping the Almighty Saban at that very time!!! Brown was also a 1st round talent, we could end up with 3 guys picked after the 1st round that have 1st round talent, and ability

Your right I would be very happy with Elton Brown. Is it possible Philadelphia traded up to get Brown specifically? They have not addressed the offensive line yet.

Boomer I think we take Travis Daniels or Nick Collins at CB. Fill the Surtain void a lil' Bit. What do you think? Is Safety a bigger need?
Green Bay drafted Collins at #51 overall.
At this point safety is one position with plenty of talent left.
I've said Sean Considine before a couple of times, but Donte Nicholson is also still on the board. Vincent Fuller is too.
CB Nick Collins is a Packer already. Round 2
Thanks I missed it.

Who is the best CB available? Brandon Browner is still on the board is he any good? Why has he beem passed up? Listed at 6'3" 221 4.60 sounds like a player.

Well done whoever spotted the deliberate David Greene mistake :)

I liked the first 2 picks but I am withholding judgment on Crowder for a bit. I hope his knees hold up and Dr. Andrews signing off on it is a very positive note but for him to go from being a 1st round pick to falling all the way to the 3rd gives me pause. The guy also is a bully off the field so he is not a solid citizen there.

I been solidly behind taking Ronnie Brown for a while, and I am glad the Edwards talk was a smokescreen. With Linehan's offense I think Brown is going to make a lot of Dolphins fan happy for years to come.

I like Roth's active and relentless playing style, and he gives us versatility at several areas. I wasn't buying Vonnie Holliday as a starter for us so Roth was a very good pick and great value. He is not JT's replacement as some have speculated because I think he lacks the array of pass rush moves, right now he uses mostly power, to replace a JT but he could do some damage opposite JT ala Wale.

Browner will be converted to FS. He's pretty big at 6'4 but is kind of slow for CB, and for man-to-man. He would be a nice pick to play at FS.

I'm am hoping for McPherson in the 4th (becuase I don't believe that he will be around in the 5th round when we pick) and then WIlkerson in the 5th where hopefully he will still be available...that would make for one hell of a first draft for Saban, 4 first round talent guys in Brown, Roth, Crowder, and aguably McPherson, and then solidify the line a bit with Wilkerson and then possibly a S or CB in the 7th?

Hey Boomer. who are some guys for the secondary we could be lookin at. With 3/4ths of our starting secondary gone from last year, I think we need some new blood. Sean Considine, Brandon Browner, Justin Beriault
