troy aikman spouts off on #34

People are constantly wrongly diagnosed with disorders. So yes some times in fact a lot of the time in a way they do just go away.

I know of no known confirmed clinical disorder when it comes to Wicky. We may all have our opinions, but that is all they are. And for the record that is fine with me. It can be fun to talk about what ifs at times.

But I'm sure you will continue to minimize what Wicky did based on this unknown clinical disorder. I don't know why, but there you go.

WTF! Ricky was diagnosed with SAD!! Read the DAMNED symptoms of SAD!!! Now just apply those to the situation!! Even the timing of his retirement makes sense!!! The anxiety builds up, you would rather run than face the music.. That anxiety overcomes the individual and they isolate themselves and flee from the situation.. PRECISELY WHAT RICKY DID!

Does that make it a good action? No! But does it make it understandable? Certainly... Ricky needed help, and hopefully he got it once he left.. I hope Nick made/makes sure he did or is...

If he did not have a confirmed disorder diagnosed by a professional person in that field, how would he have been able to get a prescription for Paxil? Since his use of the drug was well known at the time, it is safe to presume he got it with a doctor's prescription. A doctor would not prescribe Paxil for no reason without a diagnosis, though since it fits your point of view, you just bring up that some people are wrongly diagnosed. As if inferring that perhaps Ricky was.

Wow this is scary now!

He has also made it clear he has not taken PAXIL, I believe that is the drug he said he stopped taking 3-years ago. He told us all that a few days ago in his PC.

I'll explain this again. People are often misdiagnosed. I know a lil bit about this because I spent 9-years in the psych field. The newest trend is for adults to be diagnosed with adult ADD, rather than their previous diagnosis of bipolar disorder. Does this mean in the past all those ppl were not really bipolar? Interesting no?

He's a quiter, he is as likely to quit again as he is to play another 5-years. If you want to minimize what he did and what he may do again just because he wears aqua and orange more power to you.

Misdiagnosis? You know it does happen all the time?

I believe Wicky made it clear to all of us he is no longer on any drugs, and in fact he has been off of PAXIL for the past 3-years. He did this just a few days ago.

From the horses mouth:

Oh, he is a liar though just because you dont want to believe it..
Note: This interview was pre-retirement..

Now this is even scarier!

Do you have any idea how old that is Skape? At the very time that was being written Wicky was off of any drugs for almost a year!

Seriously dude, stop digging!

Actually no you did not. That is just opinion. There is no confirmed clinical disorder when it concerns Wicky. We may all have our opinions about that, but that is all they are.

And no Irvin never quit on his team mates.

And Irvin has nothing to do with this, can we move on now?
By snorting coke and getting suspended, which in effect was due to his selfish desire for the drug, wasn't that also quitting on his teammates, or at the least putting them after the coke in order of importance?

Yet, all of his actions, all of his weirdness, all of his social awekwardness, all of his self-imposed isolation fall perfectly in line with that of SAD.. Yet it was a misdiagnosis? Is he just really, really, really, shy? Yes, he is a quitter, but there are reasons why they occurred, to just pretend there weren't is disingenuous imo.

BTW, What did you do in the Psych field? I am probably getting in that field as well..

Quitting? No. Just as bad basically? Yea I agree. No one is defending Irvin's personal issues, nor should anyone defend Wicky's personal issues. We do not know enough about either of those situations to really speak about them. At least that is how I see things.

Still doesn't change the fact Irvin was a real football warriror and a GREAT team mate that never quit on his team mates. The guy almost LOST his life playing the game. I'm not going to lesson or minimize the respect I have for him as a player just because Wicky is playing for the Phins again. No way no how.

did anyon catch the segment in the sentinel this morning on what aikman said ? well i wont repeat it . my thoughts on troy boy is he is a ******** and i dont care how manysuper bowls he won. i think aikman is way overrated . i would take bob and brian greise before i would take aikman.

You would take Brian Griese over Aikman? Ok I think that's about all I will ever read from you again.

I totally agree. Wicky actes very much like someone who suffers from SAD. I never implied he does not. I simply wanted to make clear we do not know if he was properly diagnosed. I have seen so many times where ppl get the wrong diagnosis and that hurts them more than what they were dealing with before. I tend ot think he was not because he is no longer on MEDS for that disorder.

I was a Psych TECH for 9-years. I was the 300 pound gorrilla they woke up when they needed one of the fruitloops crushed.

Yet you completely minimize what Ricky has done on the FIELD? Talk about double standards... Did you not watch the 2003 season when the human battering ram almost had 40 carries vs Buffalo? Cmon, Ricky IS dependable on the FIELD.. He is a BEAST on the field.. Just like Irvin was.. Both are selfish and immature, but both are also BEASTS on the field.. and good teamates, ON THE FIELD. I dont even think Ricky's own teamates would dispute that..

No I have never minmimzed what Wicky is on the field. I think when he is right in the head he is the BEST HB in the NFL. In fact I think his year off will prob make him a much better HB for us.

This still doesn't change the fact that guy could quit again tomorrow because he thinks he is the next Lance Armstrong and he thinks he can win 8 Tour de France's!

Just hope he doesnt have SAD anymore, and he wont.. But, seeing as how he faced that pressure cooker of a press conference and returned into what is arguably the most uncomfortable situation he could have placed himself back in, I think he has gotten therapy that has now greatly diminished his SAD.
