Truth and Rumors: Smith and 49ers at odds.

Don't forget this is CNN quoting the New York Post, not CNN reporting fact. I know that Blue Fin is using Ira Miller and saying that it's Rodgers, I'm happy to maintain the status quo that it's Smith that the 49ers want.

We'll see soon.

Wanting and having is too different items...

I hope the 49ers select Smith....good for us....Vikes and maybe the redskins take Edwards off our hands...and Saban gets what he always wanted from the beginning...more picks and less cost. Hmmm....sounds like a commercial.

If the 49ers are basing their decision on who they can get the cheapest rather than who they think's the best that's a pretty dumb ****ing way of beginning a tenure as a head coach.

boomer, will we be able to see your mock draft soon also who would you put money on that we draft as of now?

If Smith wants more than what Eli got last year, would the Dolphins be able to give him that kind of money?

Sounds like a Tom Condon client.

Yes and I am not surprised. While the signing bonus may be attractive for a No 1 pick if Smith signs with the niners, Smith's agent could be looking out for his clients long term advantage and could be trying to steer Smith to the Dolphins .
The niners owner is notoriously cheap .The Dolphin owner is not.The Dolphins have always been winners and the niners have not been except for those few SB years.

It all depends on the long term projection that Condon has for his client.Saban is of the same mind.He is investing for the future.

nO ROOKIE qb WIS OR WILL BE READY NOW FOR THAT TEAM.

I agree crunch, it seems that way. As much as it is Sabans pick I believe Linehan has just as much say in regards to who they will pick if they go the qb route.

Smith just wants that cash. He knows hes the most desireable QB in this draft and he wants to be paid like it I guess. I dont think hes trying to get the Fins to pick him because hes from Cali and I dont see why San Fran would be such a terrible team to play for. Theyre relatively young, have a promising young coach and are in the same state that Smith is from. I think the 49ers are just cheap and want to either trade down or get a bargain on 1 of the top prospects. I cant really blame them if Smith is asking for Eli Manning kindve money, because hes really not as good a prospect as Eli was last year. Huizenga wants to build a winner and Saban doesnt seem to have a problem with spending money either so I think the Fins would get a deal done with Smith if we're able to get him.

Maybe Boomer....but if they look at both of them as equals...taking the cheaper player who won't cause a headache is smart.

Not without a cost...as it is now the Dolphins are only 1.1 mil under the cap...even with Surtain....it will cost the Dolphins way too much for a QB to be sitting...when that money could be used for players who would play right away.

The 49ers dont want a holdout ala Rivers in SD. They also want the fans to show up to the games so they can get more money to build another stadium to replace their crappy one.

They need to get good fast. Rodgers will be ready now, where as Smith will be ready later.

i unerstand the concept of not wanting a holdout, but...
if you're just going to trade somebody's rights, you don't ever have to sign him.

rodgers is a junior and, IMO, needs a little more work before he's ready. nobody is saying that either of these guys is a finished product. rodgers might be less risky because the offense he ran was more pro-style, but he isn't a finished product.

Thats who his agent is. They want more than Eli got last year!
I believe I heard or read that the 9ers don't want to pay
something like 21 mill over the last two years of the contract.
But I think they will pick him anyway. I really don't want
Saban to pick him if he's asking for that much, there have
been anuff cap problems around here for long anuff.
We need more players than just one Alex Smith.

They are both juniors with Rodgers being a little older than Smith. Rodgers is the one who is said to be more ready to start in the NFL, not Smith.
