Pay the man. And away with the horse fly shet talkers who keep talking about finding a replacement for our QB.
**** no
He deserves a new contract but not huge money
Let’s see after the playoffs
I use the 5th year option and make him earn it. He has not shown he can play in prime time against big teams

Thank god you’re not the GM

Tua earned it last season. Grier ****ed him again by holding a press conference saying that the concussions weren’t precedence setting but then only picked up his 5th option. Tua watched Burrow & Herbert get immediate extensions, and Hurts & Lamar get mega contracts as well.

Tua keeps receipts. He switched agents last offseason and will be setting the market rate for a starting Pro Bowl QB.

Tua will be joining the $50+M QB club.

When you put it like that it's even scarier.

Given all we have had to put up with since selecting Tua (Herbert love, Watson distraction, inability to get along w/ the previous coaching staff, concussions and general fragility) I think we deserve a bit of a discount to secure his noodle-arm, no playoff-game winning, non-mobile abilities for another 4 years. I'd offer $37.5MM plus incentives for games played and games won against winning teams. Max with incentives of $39.5MM as he should slot in below the names above.

Even with a discount though that's way more than we are paying now, if we can't win the division or a playoff game with a loaded roster how exactly are we ever going to get better with the same QB and less to spend on the roster? Tricky business. Need to start drafting a QB late every year and look for the Brady/Purdy's of the world and get back to a rookie QB contract as soon as possible.

The question for me becomes if you're not going to pay Tua and I assume let him walk then what the heck is the back-up plan?
Draft some random QB(Not sure with what draft capital) and hope they'll be better than Tua?
Sign some vet FA in the offseason that's better than Tua?

It becomes a no brainer to resign the kid.

I understand what you mean.

But those Purdy Qbs you're talking about don't come often.

Also we've seen what Purdy looks like when he missing key weapons and that 49ers OL look likes our OL when they're missing 1 or 2 guys.

The answer is not very good.

The Dolphins deserve a discount? Man I’ve read some absolutely dumb **** this week but this post tops everything.

Lay off the crack.

All we have had to put up with ? what about what Tua has had to put up with ? the dolphins don`t deserve $hit from him unless he chooses to give it . What they do to deserve though is him walking if they try to shaft him again .

AAV will mean very little. It's the guarantees in terms of total guaranteed and how they are structured.

Philly got out of the Wentz deal early without much dead, relative to when they traded him, due to how it was structured.

Not saying Tua is like Wentz, but hopefully Tua isn't like Dak or Watson in how the guarantees are spelled out and details like term and franchise tag options

We've got to see how this season wraps up. These final weeks + Playoffs will say a lot about how good this offense really is or whether it needs the perfect conditions/opponent to produce.

Even then, you wait until next year to see how things go. A lot is set up to last through 2024.

There's no reason to be talking extension right now.
