Tua's throwing power while on the move

Not so fast...

When Tua was winning with much worse performances, each and every one of you "supporters" were claiming he's the greatest thing since the discovery of fire.

Now that he's had a good game, but was directly involved in a loss that has cemented US as the worse team in the NFL...stats and performance suddenly mean something.

You circle-jerkers can't have it both ways.
It's not that hard. If a QB does what he needs to in order to win, he did an ok job. If he plays well and the team still loses, he did an ok job.

If he was terrible and the team lost, then he was terrible.

jmo here.

I do think there is some truth to, he struggles generating velocity if his feet aren't set, when Tua has to throw off platform is when he loses ball velocity, however, when he steps up in the pocket and is throwing forward with inertia going strait ahead he is lethal.

I thought Tua showed hi level qb talent against the jags, I'm excited for his future here if we don't f it up.When it all slows down, and he has appropriate protection, and a good back, the talent is off the charts.

Who do we pin the wins on when Tua plays?
I think quarterback wins and losses is a bad stat. I'm more of a team win/lose kind of guy.

Point I was trying to make is Tua played well enough for Miami to win. If Josh Allen had those same stats, everyone would be saying how impressive he was.

To add to that, Parker and Fuller were both injured and didn't play.

The problem is on 2021 there are 2 measures for a good QB performance.

1. A win, QB can suck but if it’s a win it’s still a good game.
2. Gaudy fantasy football numbers, 300+ yards and 3+ TD’s.

Anything else is unnoticed or the negatives are harped on.

Sure Tua played well against a lower level Jags team, but it shows you what he looks like when the opponnet's talent level on the defensive side is close to equal to what Tua is working with on the offensive side of the ball. Give Miami a top 8 to 15 offensive line and you could see Tua putting up numbers similar or better to the ones he had Sunday on a majority of his outings.

I think one of the biggest things not being discussed is how bad Gaskin and Ahmed were in the passing game Sunday. They dropped or juggled almost every pass that was thrown to them. It cost is big. When you’re down WR’s those guys need to make those plays. To me those guys are one of the biggest reasons we lost.
Well...a part of them having a problem catching several of those passes was the accuracy of the passes. Tua threw high/behind several targets in that game. Sometimes the catch was made (with next to zero YAC opportunity) and sometimes it wasn't made (probably a good thing on some of those inaccurate throws with a defender comin' in for the slaughter).

He had a high completion percentage for the game, but I have seen him play games where he has been much more accurate. I gotta believe a chunk of that was rust/recovering from the injury (wearing a rib cage doesn't help either probably).

What I DID appreciate in that game from him, was that he looked confident and broke the pocket to make plays with his legs when he had the opportunity (except that one 3rd down where he'd have had an EASY first, but tried to make a play throwing it and it didn't work). I wish we knew the full story on the interception, because that was a very non-characteristic throw from him.

So mixed bag on Tua this week...for me. Some good, some bad...mostly good.

And in relation to the OP...I've seen him display plenty velocity on passes where he has been moving sideways. Not on Tannehill's/Allen's/Rodgers' level, but good enough, but even then, he had to torque pretty hard to get the zip. He can't just fling it with his wrist like the cannon guys.

You can’t blame Tua for the loss last week. Think about what he’s dealing with:
  • Worst OL in the league. I mean….What percentage of plays does he have a clean pocket? 33%? Maybe?
  • Zero Running game. For **** sake…He was the second leading rusher for us and if he gained 3 more yards….He would have been the leading rusher.
  • Jalen Waddle and Mike Gesicki are the ONLY weapons he had. That’s it. EVERYONE else in a pass catching role last Sunday is well below average in the NFL.
So….One dimensional on offense. Running the same ****ing plays week in and week out. No star talent at receiver. Yet he still almost won the game. Verdict: Can’t blame Tua on this one.

HOWEVER! He was playing the worst defense in the league. So anyone blaming Tua gets points there….But we are the worst offense in the league.

Let me just say this….I fear a new regime is gonna take over and we’re gonna find out what Tua has when he’s playing for another team and winning games regularly.

That’s my 2 cents

Tua just lost to the 0 - 20 Jags...a team who has given 320 yards to Teddy Bridgewater, 316 yards to Kyler Murray, 348 yards to Joe Burrow, 197 to Tannehill, and 329 to Tua

Let that sink in...

Is that an average day at the office for a starting QB who WINSSSS vs the Jags?
Funny, no one was saying that about Herbert last year as he posted those kind of numbers as his TEAM lost those games

That was last year...

This year Herbert is in the MVP conversation...and his team is winning because of him.

I’m definitely still not sold on him by any means. Any bum can light up the Jags
He has to give me a stretch of games like this. It doesn't have to be a 300 yard/2 TD game...but I need to see a stretch where we are in a position to win because of Tua.

***waiting for a Tua supporter to chime in and say we were in a position to win against the 0 - 20 Jags***
