Tuesday's Camp Report

great stuff. however, i think its a little unfair for any of us to judge our o-line in one-on-one drills. In one-on-one drills the d-lines gonna win most the time anyway. D-linemen are just generally better athletes. Thats usually why o-linemen are o-linemen, because somewhere down the line they couldn't cut it as d-linemen.

Um dont take this wrong but what do you think happens in a game. A lineman takes on another lineman, with usually one olineman getting some help. Just messin with ya.

The one on ones are the best way, other than full contact drills, to measure players strengths and weaknesses. Plus they can teach as they go.....

Works the other way too.

D-lineman who weren't smart enough for the OL. Doesn't take much genius to play tackle.

Based on these reports, looks like Ricky is back in pretty good form. You can tell that he is a step ahead of all the other RB's. Ricky is in a class of his own... if he was only stable.

I am glad Frerotte is doing better too.

Who among us thought Carey would be where he is three months ago??

He's not at the top of the mountain. But the guy didn't even crack the lineup last year. He hadn't played tackle in a few years. And now he's on the left side making things happen.

Ozzy, do you think Travis Daniels could actually achive "solid" as a rookie starter??

Very true Muck!! Who would have thought that Carey would be doing what he is doing 3 months ago. When I was there today i was concentrated for a while on watching his play...And like Ozzie said: This guy is holding his own, and against JT!!!
I've only seen todays practice but already it seems like a different person out there.

I tell you what man. I had some doubts about Daniel's but watching him live, he has great instincts and very good closing speed. Same things I once thought about Madison, and Surtain. So although its real early, I would give you a reserved YES.

what does donnie spragan look like out there?

I'm sorry but I've been talking so much about the offense that I don't have much on the defense.

I'll be giving a more detailed report on the defense soon though.

I was there today and I totally agree with your views of todays practice. Oz you really do a great job, like many people have stated its an amazing skill you have to be able to remember everything the way you do, and to be able to translated in writting so well. Your reports are not only helpful to the people who cannot make the practices; but also we who are there, we appreciate the way you can lay out the whole practice in writting. I dont know how you do it, but i miss half the stuff you see.
KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB OZ!!!

Wow!! Thats a heck of a compliment. Thank you very much.

Yeah Oz daniels to me was also a really good suprise, though it was a bit a a homer pick by saban but so far he has proved me wronge, his reaction time is great, when a wr cuts it like he knew when the cut was going to happen, so thoose that dont like his 40, he doesnt need it cause he already there he doesnt need dieon closing speed although i think is field speed is alot better than numbers would tell you.

When you see the ball move, go getm..... :D

Fantastic run down bud. Thank you so much.

I do have a question, and I saw that you are going to pay a little more attention to the D next. I was curious about Carter, and how he is rotating in. Along with how often the D in general is rotating. 4-3, 3-4, etc. What have the line-ups looked like.

If you can pocket that question and make a side note in a future report I'd appreciate it OZ. Thanks again

Great report

What the hell do you care? :goof:

...Three snippets that are REALLY getting me excited are Vernon Carey, David Boston and Travid Daniels.

...And who's been saying on here that everyone will love Travis???
I knew he was going to hit it up. I realize it's day 2 of camp.

But Travis is a player. I watched him throughout his whole LSU career. Big, physical, good instincts and underrated speed.
