Ty Law Update

Ty Law wants a sense of security in trying to lock down a multi-year deal, however from what has been said late,y, is that he hasn't even really begun his re-hab from last years injury. Is he running yet? I think he'll sign with a team for a minimum of 2 years, possibly restructure for a longer term deal if he's able to get over his injury and contribute to whichever team signs him. The other factor is that he wants too much money for something thats not proven, his health! He hasn't been able to prove he's healed form last years injury that kept him out of most of the season.

I would love to see him in Miami, but at this point he'd probably be smarter to wait it out. There's a good chance some team will have a corner get hurt before the season starts and be in a position where the feel they have no choice but to pay him. If that doesn't happen, he could still sign somewhere for the vet minimum. With his talent, someone will pick him up.

:yeahthat:

Martin is really pushin for Law to come to the Jets...once teammates and were in same draft class...according to Adam Schefter NFL Network

You could see him change his tune as to the one year deal idea. McDougle took a one year deal with Miami over a multi-year deal with I believe Pittsburgh, and he had good reason. You don't want to get locked into a multi-year deal at a time when your stock is down and you know that it could easily skyrocket with one healthy year played to your normal standards. Right now with how late it is, and the injury issue, Law's stock is down. If he sees a multi-year deal on the table I don't think it is likely it will be a deal that he will want to get himself locked into. If he takes that one year deal with Miami, stays relatively healthy, and plays relatively well, he can turn that into a very nice deal in 2006, IMO
Agreed, except you left out that mcdougle just got done with his rookie deal and is, what like 4-5 years younger? Laws financial clock is ticking away alot faster in terms of getting a multi-year offer.

we cannot risk sinking any money into law for more a 1 year, and he will not sign that kind of deal. so, he won't be in a miami uniform. and that's fine. only 2 players have ever come back to play with the injury he has and they were both under 25.
