Tyler Larsen

Larsen may eventually turn out to be a good player for us, but I rather they start Turner at one of the OG spot, and try to trade for a reliable center. The Center is the QB of the line.

Our front office could have drafted an insurance policy for Pouncey anywhere in the draft and chose not to. They chose a DE (no need there) from nowhere rather than draft this kid. That tells you what they think of him.

if our front office had no interest in him, why did we sign him? it's not like we're obliged to sign x amount of UDFA's

the short arms doesn't help...that's for sure...especially when the guys a ehhh move athlete to try and make up for it with footwork and lateral agility

All we can do is hope for the best, but can you imagine if the opening day OL, vs the pats, is Albert, Thomas, Larsen, Turner, and James?? That would be 3 rookies and a 2nd year guy that didn't start a game as a rookie. Might be prudent to get Ryan fitted for a full body cast before the season even starts. Lauren might want to get all her luv'n soon, he might be too sore to touch after the season starts.

3 rookies and a sophomore does seem to point to disaster on the surface. But we had vets on our OL last year and look what that got us.

Here's a better predictor; Either they have the talent and will perform or dont. Age and experience is just as reliable an indicator of talent as youth. Either these guys can play or they can't. That's all I'm worried about.

Frankly, I'm enjoying the fact no one remains from last year's OL. It IS time for a fresh start. This line will become a better unit with complete fresh faces. Time to put the past to rest.

hope for a chicago like 1 year makeover with the oline...of course they like failed with it for like 5 years and got the qb killed in the process...

this is gonna be quite the feat if we pull it off...5 new starters up front...3 first year nfl starters and a 2nd year player firsr year starter that was a flat disaster in camp and the preseason last year

pretty slim odds

It's def not pretty but at least its happening early enough where we can plan for it.

Remember when Sparano decided to change the oline starters the last week of pre season? We knew we were done for than, at least we have a chance here to settle things.

we got a chance...but if it's mirroring the eagles i just don't see the athletes to try and pull it off...scheme will be key regarding formations and personnel usage...no doubt about it...and man does less keeping the backs in to protect scare me with a total oline rebuild...so much pressure on the oline and tight ends to not blow assignments and checks at the los etc...i know the backs were not good at blocking but at least there was some extra bodies...

everyones attention come the camp and preseason should be fixated on the oline...it's life and death for us...period

and to top it all off i think under this new cba you get like 7 padded practices at most...god help us we get any injuries in camp or preseason on the oline...jason fox cant stay healthy garner will be a turnstyle if he's the backup left tackle option b which seems to be the case right now...and that's not even talking about the interior and the lack of experience and snaps in nfl games there

Can this team ever catch a break! Every time I think we are on the way to improvement, we seem to inevitably take two steps back.

DK: sometimes these things are not as bad as they seem. and some times they are a blessing in disguise!!

the biggest thing i worry about with pouncy is his off field antics and pals. the guy has the feel of implosion at any moment to me. so, i would rather something happen now rather than later like right before a playoff game. having a fresh center come in at that time probably wouldnt be good. whoever takes pouncy's spot will have almost ALL of training camp to get up to speed. if its going to happen, this couldnt be a better time.

i really like this larsen kid. he isnt some out of position experiment, he is a bonafide center who has ALL the tools to be a quality nfl center and kingpin in a zone block scheme. i dont know if many are paying attention but EVERY ol-men drafted or udfa has the skills needed for the zbs. thats not an accident.

ireland had to many square pegs jammed in round holes. i do not think larsen is going to be any eye opening blunder at all. and if out o-line is ONE guy, no matter what the position, we are doomed anyways. you have to have 5 guys with nfl talent working as a unit. if ANY unit on a team is one guy [qb being the exception], its dead before it even starts.

it appears to me that this team is not what it used to be. our "luck" is changing. the players and coaches are fired up and hungry. we have a great bond already between rookies and vets and rookies. a good mix of new and veteran. injury's happen to EVERY TEAM, EVERY YEAR. and sometimes, the guy who fills in takes his job or is the injured players equal.

and thats not a bad situation!!

I never took that mirroring the eages stuff seriously to begin with. I try to mirror Derek Jeters social life, but I'm still not banging models every other night. At the end of the day you can only do what you have the abilities and means to do.

Philbin wanted to run a fast paced offense when he first got here, it took two games to realize our roster couldn't do it.

One thing I'd like to dd is that I believe a HUGE part to Phillys offensive line production was due in part to there offensive system, and teams not being use to it. I don't expect that kind of production from them again. They had 3 lineman graded #1 at there position.

I'm sure there good, but there not that good. Good execution and a high pace makes everyone on offense look godly.

ehh miami could have tried to mirror that eagles system with some different free agent and draft oline decisions...doesn't mean they would have mirrored the success...scheme definitely plays into the eagles oline success but it's more about right scheme for the personnel they have up front than trying to make poor fits work...only questionable player they have up front is the right guard herremans a converted tackle...and being he's a tackle convert he's a plus athlete for what they ask to do as well...that front is loaded with plus athletes and hoof move guys...

which means the playbook is wide open when it comes to options and favorable matchups...loaded with guys who can play in space and make solid contact on the move

behind garner and brenner

...And will continue to, until he's not. Zach Thomas was also an insignificant ST/backup, until he proved himself and quickly went up to starter. All three will get a chance to prove themselves in pre-season, don't look much into who is in front of who right now, especially on the O-line.

- Larsen steps in and looks great, enjoys a 10-year Dolphin career.

-Pouncey returns after the bye week, but Larsen is playing so well they move Pouncey to guard opposite Dallas Thomas.

- Dolphins finish the year with a line of Albert, Thomas, Larsen, Pouncey and James. In two years, as Albert gets older Miami, goes with a talented young line of Billy Turner, Pouncey, Larsen, Thomas and James.

You are aware that Larson (Who Miami took in FA), was one of the top centers in this years draft, and they did not have to use a draft pick to get him.
