Tyson Clabo- A Closer Look

Umm who said just the first nine games? Last i checked all the games count equally...Bills game (first match) and Ravens game come to mind. Both very close games.

I totally agree. Clabo sucked in those 2 games. The point f this thread is how he overcame that, and was VG in the LAST 9 games. No one can dispute that, other than being just average in run blocking, which was better than anyone else on the OL did.

I would absolutely bring him back as insurance. His play in the last part of the season is enough for me. At the very worst he is depth

I usually agree and like how you formulate arguments Southbeach but I must admit I have never disagreed with you more. Not only did I watch all the games live, but I re-watched the whole season last week, as well as that video on youtube with all the sacks that occurred during the season. What is obvious is that our whole O-line was bad but the gem of crap was Tyson Clabo. He may not have allowed a bunch of sacks but he definitely allowed the greatest amount of disruption and hurries on the QB, plus he was totally dominated constantly, every week.

Thanks, and to try to live up to what you said, consider this. In Clabo's last 9 games, he gave up a total of 4 hits and 13 hurries. This was proportionately better than Joe Thomas, Streiff, Andre Smith, Solder, and Gross over 16 games. What does this tell ya?

I also watch the OL on tape every game for 10 years. Need to compare notes this year.

It is possible that there will be someone better off late cuts but, don't see it.

Our best RT prospects are probably in the Draft. However Clabo at modest salary offers a decent backup, at a minimum. In the course of a full season, injuries occur and backups are called upon. I'd have him back at a lower $ amount.

Agreed. Then if we could get Pouncy to "toughen up" Dallas Thomas we may have something.

Clabo actually did a good job of holding it down last season.Hope he starts next year

I kinda think any o-lineman still available isn't starter material at this point in their career.

Considering what we have on the OL bow, I'd be fine with signing Clabo for depth on the OL. We may be able to linemen but how many can we count on to start immediately?

We need to move on from clabo. Its funny how people bash martin but the staff benched clabo for him. ClBo was bad last year real bad.

The 7 sacks and no run game in the first 6 games just left too bad of a taste for ppl to like him. Wouldn't be an awful pick up but almost certainly for depth rather than starting. RT should be addressed in the first 2 rounds. Much easier to find a guard that will have pounceys help rather than a tackle that can contain today's edge rushers.

I was all in for an upgrade in FA but, did not happen. Based on those last 9 games, Clabo is easily the best available option left in FA. I would sign him to compete with a 2nd round draft OT.

im all for bringing back clabo, but if he beats out the 2nd round OT then what? we have another 2nd round pick riding the pine.**** that. yeah, we need cornfed. but i'd rather use high picks on skill position guys and use mid to late round picks on OL. bring in a bunch of udfa and even sign a couple cheap FA and between them and brenner/garner/thomas find a couple guys that can play the right side. we need to score points. im tired of trying to grind out 17-16 wins, and we've been doing that for the last decade because no matter what kind of line we have we always have pedestrian skill guys.
