Unimpressive "D" Scheme

No brother we blitzed quite a bit. It was just caught and contained dayum near everytime. Im patient with that though. I have faith that those bugs will get worked out by the end of preseason.

We blitzed some, but we didn't scheme. Saban even said as much Sunday I think, that we'd just line up and let the guys play.

You guys need to look back to JJ games. he didn't game plan either in the pre-season, he just played and evaluated. Don't expect us to win any pre-season games under Saban because he won't game plan. These games are just glorified scrimmages.

Zach got blocked out of nearly every play last night.

That's odd. I saw him make two tackles on pretty much his only two opportunities. Grossman passed alot and Zach didn't have a lot of opportunities.

How you guys can even watch a meaningless preseason game and gather all this information is beyond me.

Funny, cuz thats what I saw too!

...and we did blitz quite frequently.

Preseason game or no, count me concerned because Chicago did some blitzes and were able to get to our QB....wasn't it a 1st preseason game for them too?

i havent bowled since April since my league ended, last night I went to practice for the first time to get ready for my Septemeber league. I shot 167, 248, 239. So if I based everything on my 1st game I guess I should just quit and never bother showing up for my league.
What are you talking about? A 167 avg would give you a good handicap:lol: That's funny you mentioned bowling. My buddy and I have doing the same thing-just trying to get ready for fall league.

Guys just ask Pathetic fans, I mean patriot fans if they ever see good action in preseason games. They don't. The only games they end up winning are the ones that the other team seems hell bent on losing it. They try it all in preseason games and just use it as an experiment. Then come the real deal, they light it up with what they've been practicing. Belichek(sp) never lets you see what he's packing in the preseason. It's scrub time and that's all you get. I'm happy to see Saban letting them play right now, because he gets to focus on their instincts. Little coaching will do that..."what do these guys do when they rely solely on their instinct"...then he'll know what he needs to coach further on. That's what we saw last night. No scheme. No plan. Just go out and run these formations and just play. Do what feels right. Then today, when they watch tape...they will see what they did wrong. I have a real good feeling about Saban being the kind of guy who loves tape. It'll be ok. We'll be just fine.

I know this was the first game but i am rather unimpresed with this d philosophy compared to what we have done in years past. I mean i am all for blitzinf if you actually get to the qb but I saw alot of sell out blitzes we ran and they picked up pretty easily also I thought because of the scheme when zach was in, the o line was getting a helmet on him alot!

You just knew that people were gonna get bent outta shape after last night....it was the 1st preseason game. Maybe its not a bad idea to not show ANY wrinkles or schemes.....save them for Denver on the 11th.

After seeing two series with the 1st unit you were "unimpressed"......that is unbelieveable!

Yeah I agree I think we should fire Saban :goof: :goof:

Can't we all agree that it was obvious that Lovie Smith actually game planned and wanted to see his 2nd year defense in action. He blitzed every other play and I thought it was great. Lets take our lumps now and learn from our mistakes so we don't do it in the regular season.

Saban on the other hand is always the maestro. Nver showing his cards or letting youknow what he truly thinks. Very cautious, and just wants to evaluate. Don't let teams be able to prepare for us based on preseason tape.

I was just waiting for Berlin to throw an INT on that last drive and I was shocked when he moved the ball inside the 20 but then he did throw an INT :shakeno: I would of ran the ball on that play, there was about 50 seconds left and we had a timeout
