Update: sources say philbin has not been eliminated

please let it be philbin, makes me wonder if he was also blunt in the interview
 
As much as Armando is an idiot who acts like he has sources when he doesn't, at least he is accountable about correcting himself. La Confora on the other hand just throws wrong news out there constantly. I urge everyone here to learn this and tune out his "fisher to take dolphins job" and "mallet to 100% be drafted by dolphins crap." Never one "got that one wrong" by him.
 
It's tought to be a dolfan right now... I don't know much of either of these 2 guys but I'm hoping it's the offensive coordinator of the Packers vice the coordinator of the Broncos...
 
I've read a lot of threads about Philbin on this board in the past couple of weeks but I can't remember one post that described what qualities Philbin has to be a good NFL head coach

All I've seen is what we already knew:-

- he's the "offensive coordinator" for the Packers. They have the best QB in the league and therefore they throw the ball a lot (is that the kind of genius we're shelling out the millions for ?)
- when I say "offensive coordinator" he never actually called the plays. That's a bit like having the job title of "airline pilot" without actually being allowed to fly the plane. I don't think it's any coincidence that Philbin and McCoy have both deferred play calling to their head coach - it's that kind of "yes-man" mentality that would have appealed to Ireland / Ross and got them on the shortlist. To be fair to McCoy he did at least get to fly the plane after McDaniels got fired and McDaniels is a bit of a control freak nutjob
- Philbin would bring the Packers offense but unfortunately not their QB. He might put the Dolphins in pole position to win the auction for the Packers backup QB. However he's not going to be OC here. Installing and calling that offense is going to be someone else's job
- He's been coaching for 25 years in college / NFL without ever having been head coach

Let's be honest - the chances of getting a real franchise-changing head coach went when Fisher chose the Rams and Ireland won the keys to the house for good. After that we were only ever going to be left with a shortlist of coaches that Ireland / Ross felt wouldn't rock the boat. I'm not really a fan of McCoy either but he does at least seem to have something about him
 
As soon as I saw the thread about Philbin being eliminated I posted this "After reading this I completely expect to hear or read something a conflicting report from someone else". Lol, then not even 30 minutes later this thread pops up. I must be psychic huh?:err:
 
Philbin is said to interview elsewhere Friday (today) so that puts the pressure on them (the trifecta) LOL to have an announcement today if the job is offered to Philbin - so no I wouldn't say Philbin is out of the picture but it is up to Jeff to change Petersen's (I mean Ross' mind) and Jeff should still respect the owner it is the ONLY reason he has a job at this point

Ross is ultimately in control of where the money is spent but Petersen has lots of control - Ross is friends with Petersen - Ireland ANSWERs to them both

Well if this was true then we'd be interviewing more qualified candidates. There was a report that Peterson wanted them to expand the search and talk to guys like Billick. But then again none of us know if any of these stupid reports are real or not so...
 
At this point my personal opinion is that the Dolphins brass is feeding misinformation to its own people in order to create confusion.
