If somebody loses a court case they like the appeals process and if the win their court case they don't like the appeals process, I don't think that makes them dishonest. Ross wanted to win, and win the easiest way possible. Plain and simple.

Realistically speaking, the idea of a new stadium was not in the cards. It just wasn't because there was no way you were going to get the public to A. Utilize funds for a new stadium and B. Agree on a proper location in South Florida that would fit in logistically. The ONLY way to get a NEW stadium was to blow up JRS and build on those same grounds, but there wasn't a proper venue anywhere to host Dolphins football in the process (plus everything that would go into making that happen).

This needed to happen before the first lipstick application, before the OB was blown up and before the Marlins debacle. I still think Ross should have put feelers out there to other counties within the area . . . just to see what it would take but then again he's sitting on land/stadium already . . . it just wouldn't make much sense to abandon it.

There are benefits. It can create local jobs in certain situations and having a Super Bowl brings so much added business to the area for business owners during an already busy season. But for the average blue collar working taxpayer there isn't much benefit. Hell you help pay for the stadium and then you have to spend a week's salary so you, the wife and kids can watch your team play ONE game inside of it.

Well I for one as a taxpayer wouldn't want my city to hurt its taxpayers just because other cities are not fiscally responsible. You do make a point and only many years down the road when people see the bad results on city economies will a change take place.
The good news is there are limited cities that want to take on the endeavor of giving away the house to influence a team to come to its city.
LA hasn't exactly beat down the NFL door to return.

The main benefits are quite a fabrication for the most part and the main benefit is quality of life and pride for football fans.

And no, Braman doesn’t approve of this agreement, either; Ross will finance renovations but will be paid by the county for luring big events.

“Why are we spending so much time coming up with ideas to help a guy worth $6 billion?” Braman asked. “I’d like as much ingenious thought given to improving the quality of life in our community, coming up with ways to keep libraries open. It’s still welfare for billionaires.”

In reality he makes a good point irregardless of the great possibility of hypocrisy.
At least this plan does make the events come to cause payment. I have read an article though that states its basically the same money he was asking for before but in a new package.
Hell I don't know lol. I do know that we wont be getting a superbowl every 5 years now that the superbowl is the reward for blackmail

QUESTION - What happens if Ross dies in the next 5-10 years? Does he have family members who will run the team? It seems like when Ralph Wilson (Bills owner) died, nobody in the family wanted to run the team. You hear rumors the team may relocate. Hopefully the renovations in Miami will keep the team in Miami for 30+ years.

I would prefer a new owner and a new stadium...when the time comes for Ross to move on.

From what I've read, Ross doesn't have a succession plan. I am pretty sure the team would go up for sale just like the Bills.

Here is Ross with his 2nd wife and 4 daughters (2 birth daughters from previous marriage, 2 of his wife's daughters from previous marriage)

I don't think any of them look all too interested in owning an NFL team.

Team will probably have a public sell like the Bills, but the team can't relocate. Ross is signing a lease agreement with Miami-Dade that will keep the team in South Florida until 2044, regardless of the owner. Ross officially has ended any relocation talk.

I think the Dolphins are obligated to stay, they know Ross will not be here all that time.



The deal also calls for the Dolphins to sign a 30-year non-relocation agreement with Miami-Dade. While the team agreed to stay 30 years, the subsidy program expires 20 years after it starts.
