Now, we’re not saying that the Dolphins will actually use a draft pick on Pryor today when the Supplemental Draft begins at 1 p.m. But Pryor coming to Miami isn’t as far-fetched as we first believed it to be.
That’s because his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said over the weekend that Pryor is willing to play whatever position is asked of him, not just quarterback. The Dolphins, thin at tight end, sure could use a 6-foot-5, 230-pound athletic freak to help out at the position.
Rosenhaus said Sunday night on 7 Sports Xtra that longtime Dolphins scout Ron Labadie was present at Pryor’s Pro Day on Saturday and spoke with Pryor after the event. That doesn’t necessarily mean much, but Pryor could actually have some use for the Dolphins this year.
Neither Pat Devlin or Kevin O’Connell has shown much in training camp, and the elimination of the No. 3 quarterback rule would allow the Dolphins to use Pryor, Henne and Matt Moore all in the same game.
“They don’t have a quality developmental prospect, and Terrelle gives them something different,” Rosenhaus said. “He can play quarterback, he can be the Wildcat, and they have always have an affinity for those types of guys. I’m not going to speak for the Dolphins, but I would not be surprised if they drafted him.”
That makes two of us. The Dolphins still must be concerned about Pryor’s issues in college, and the five-game suspension he will serve to start the season. And Ireland doesn’t seem willing to give up a high draft pick for Pryor, who is still very raw as a quarterback. But it certainly wouldn’t surprise us to see Ireland use a fifth-round pick for an intriguing multi-faceted prospect like Pryor.
