USA v. Germany Soccer on ESPN2

Germany 4-1 over USA

Italy 4-0 over Germany

Italy and USA in the same group:tongue:

:yeahthat:

Plus don't forget about the Czech Rep. Ghana is a decent team, but the African teams can suprise many. Their skill level is increasing every year. No way USA makes it out of that group, iMO. Even if they do, they wont be an "elite 8" team as someone mentioned. They gonna be paired with Brasil's group. Soooo, they'll more than likely finish second, making them play Brasil or Croatia, more than likely Brasil though. I see them finishing on top of that group.

Forza Azzurri!!! :hail: :italy:

US will get out. I am willing to make a friendly FH bet on that. ;)

Humour me here Prime, who do you have joining them in the second round from that group?

Czech. I know you won't like that but that is what I think. I think Italy will pull an Argentina from 02 and choke badly.

Its possible to say the least. Its a difficult group, and Italy usually starts slow, and picks it up later on. They can't afford to do that this year. But choke, not a chance, they will make it close. Goal differential if anything.

:hail: :italy:

and

:flag: :hump:

J/k. I'd much rather the US go through. I hate the Czhechs, and only because of Nedved. I like Baros though.

I would prefer Italy and US advance because my ancestors are Italian, my name is Italian. But, I don't see it happening. Czechs are determined to advance after missing the last WC. I don't see an early exit for them.

EDIT - By the way...Koller is a big mofo...

Projected US Squad accordiing to Soccernet.com

GK: Kasey Keller, Tim Howard, Marcus Hahnemann

D: Oguchi Onyewu, Eddie Pope, Carlos Bocanegra, Cory Gibbs, Steve Cherundolo, Gregg Berhalter, Eddie Lewis, Frankie Hejduk, Jonathan Spector

M: Claudio Reyna, Landon Donovan, DaMarcus Beasley, Bobby Convey, Pablo Mastroeni, Clint Dempsey, Ben Olsen

F: Brian McBride, Eddie Johnson, Josh Wolff, Taylor Twellman.

My locks are..McBride, Johnson, Wolff, Beasley, Mastroeni, Donovan, Convey, Reyna, Onyewu, Pope, Bocanegra, Gibbs, Hejduk, Lewis, Keller, Howard.

That is 16 spots for me...leaving 7 left...I don't see how John O'Brien doesn't make this team. I hope they let him play soon...

All of this of course is barring injury...

I'll take your word for it Prime. I live in Canada, and no one could care less about soccer here, for the most part. I'm a HUGE soccer fan, and can't name you two players on Canada's squad. Over here, all the exposure is on foreign soccer, since we are soooooooo mulitcultural  .

With that being said, not many say they are Canadians, even if they were born here - second, third generation. Rather, they say they are whatever their background is. In the states, you guys are American first, and your origin second. Here its the opposite.

With all that being said......we dont care about N. American soccer, and the BS CONCACAF division.

I'm speaking for the majority, I know true patriotic Canadians will flame me for this. I am proud to be Canadian though, just not to the extent as others. Its hard to explain my situation, but many are with me.

My babbling has ended.

I have a problem of interests here, I am Mexican-American (born in Mexico, but my Dad is american) and I grew up admiring Eric Winalda... So I cheer for the states (hotugh I tend to be very pessimistic) but on the other side soccer is so much more important for Mexico, that I feel bad not supporting mexican teams (plus I really like this coach and Guillermo Franco, I think the man is a crack) and now it happens that my GF is Costa RIcan, so I have to cheer for them too....

Which means that this WC i am following MExico, Costa Rica and the US for nationalistic reasons. Argentina because I really like Pekerman and his style, and Netherlands because I like them....

I am so hyped.

I lived in Verona, Italy for four years so I am pulling for the Azzuri and the USA...too bad they are both in the same division. My favorite team is Juventus...I also like Lazio. I use to collect all the Italian soccer players cards when I was a kid. People here in the USA don't realize how crazy people are in Europe about their soccer teams. I know it is the same in other countries as well. Good to see soccer gaining in popularity here.

Here as in FH or USA?

I am also super hyped for the World Cup. I will be rooting for Argentina and USA...

I would root for Peru also, but they didn't make it to the World CUp :(
