Vernon Carey Looking Good (ESPN)

We have 2 question marks right now, LT and QB. I hope carey breaks out the LT position so we can spend our 1st pick next year at QB if feeley doesn't pan out

Hey thanks...didn't see that thread before. Sometimes my job gets in the way of letting me read all the threads. Very good news!

I haven't heard this news yet, and to be honest, I'm absolutely thrilled.

This is better news, way better, than had we heard that Matt Roth was ripping McDougle w/o pads.

If they say he's pass protecting against Taylor and holding his own, we should support, not rip for it being too early.

Just ask McGahee about his last college year and his 6 touchdowns in one game with, I think, at least 5 behind Vernon.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Carey has yet to prove his worth on the field. Yeah its great to hear he's progressed in practice but they havent even put the pads on yet.

There is a old saying in sports "you practice like you play"

Great to hear Vernon is looking good but I'm still not too confident about him starting at LT for us. Any idea why Hadnot was moved to Center but is the starting RG now? I was kind of hoping that Vernon would be starting RG for us with Hadnot at C.

Not sure why, but I trust Houck's judgment/assessment.

If it's good for Houck, it's good for me... ;) ;) ;)

Now, having said that, if the players don't perform, Houck will re-evaluate accordingly...

the fact that he is doing good against JT without pads is real good because without pads JT is running around with a ton of speed so it a disadvantage for carey right now so this is extremely good

Get back to me when they actually start hitting and they are still saying that about Carey, then I'll begin to believe.

Carey has loads of talent and ability. That was never the question with him. Motivation and learning the offense is what held him back. So if Houck is getting the mental side down (which you can do a lot of it before the pads come on) then that's great cause no one is questioning his physical ability.

My point stands, this is the NFL, not UM, this is the bigs.

When they are still raving about him when they are hitting and going 100% I will be excited about him.

You seem pretty excited (like the rest of us) about Matt Roth, and he hasn't put on the pads either.

You should quit. :)

Heard it before, but you always like to hear good news. Im glad that he is finally showing the talent a 1st rounder should show.

Matt Roth hasn't disapointed us with a questionable rookie season yet.
