The thing that rattled our OL most was the stunts and blitzes that the Bears threw at us. It wasn’t a question of strength or talent, but a matter of recognizing assignments. There were times where one of the interior linemen was completely free and looking for someone to block, all the while a CB or safety was attacking the opposite side of the line. These guys need to gel as a unit to ensure those kinds of miscommunications dont happen.
In terms of Carey's performance, I didnt see anything strikingly bad. Michaels and Madden selected the one play near the goal line where Alex Brown beat him with a quick first step. They mentioned that Carey was beaten, although he clearly recovered and pushed his man outside. Even on that play, the real pressure came from the interior, where Ulracher was essentially unblocked.
Give HH a few more weeks with these guys and Im sure we'll see a better performance. I cant point fingers at any one interior player - however, we can assume that with Hadnot and Saint Clair suddenly thrust into new positions theres going to be some growing pains.
