one question on the colts sucking for luck, and i thought about it ,how is indy going to afford ,just say they do get the #1 pick how are they going to afford keeping peyton and signing luck ? because manning is getting just about every bit of the colts cap as it is and thats why they cant sign any big players , so if they do draft luck how are they going to pay him ? i know that the #1 pick has dropped on money wise but still. and imo there not going to just let manning go if he comes back healthy, he has atleast another 5-6 years of good football left in him ,so the only way i see it is indy will have to let manning and luck BOTH play wr ,qb, lt, rt ,exc. exc.
thoughts ?

Rookie wage scale...the first pick will no longer be as expensive as in the past....it will actually be worth more now as far as trade value now that it has a diminished monitary cost...

Like the poster above said, the rookie wage scale greatly diminished how much the number 1 pick gets.

Indy will take Luck unless they get blown away with a trade offer. They could do the Favre/Rodgers plan now since they'll be able to afford a number 1 pick.

yes but it will still be like 22-25 mil and wheres that going to come from hell they barely could keep the guys they had as of right now so imo i dont see it happening not unless manning and luck is going to take on the whole NFL.

OK BUT now do you think luck even if saythey do have room for him under the cap ,do you think he will sit for 5 years behind manning and waste 5 years sitting on the bench ? i think if he is going to pull a trade demand it will be on the colts if say they do get the 1st over all pick.

Thats what I have been saying all along. I can't see Luck sitting behind Manning for 5 years when he would start right away for any other team that drafts him. Those are 5 years he can't get back.

They'll just get rid of every other player on the team except for Luck and Manning.....They'll play the entire 2012 season with 2 players and then rebuild.

Indy can opt out of the Manning deal after this year. If they feel he is done as a QB then they would do that and then re-hire him in some coaching or consultant capacity.

I don't think people realize what sort of impact the rookie wage scale will have on the future of the NFL.

Now, teams with top draft picks can take best player availables without worrying about some massive 50 mill contract. Who ever has the #1 pick expect them to draft Andrew Luck regardless of there team needs.

After he is signed, or even before if that team deems him not necessary they will trade rape the $hit out of some team that does. If not, no harm in holding onto a future franchize QB till your current starter ages out. (Colts)

yep...indy has a built in out clause in mannings contract...but even if they didn't the new rookie wage scale means they could afford him anyways...worst case you cut some or a overpriced veteran to make it work

Luck won't be sitting behind Manning for 5 years, it will be 3 most likely. Manning will be 36 when the season starts next year, he's not playing till he's 41.

And it makes no difference if Luck wants to sit or not, if he gets drafted he'll have to do whatever the team that drafts him tells him to do. Once he signs that contract then he does whatever the coach says to do.

Everyone needs to just stop trying to justify why Luck won't sign with X team who has the 1st pick if it's not us. Everyone also needs to stop assuming we'll get the 1st pick in the draft. The time to worry about these things is when the season is over and we know where we're picking.

The Tony supporters and those that want a win to solely screw up the bandwagon should waste their money and go.

Put your money where your mouth is please.

Let's be clear - Indy drafts Luck, Manning is gone, Manning wants to prove the player he is he needs help to make in back to the SB. Manning will move on if they drat Luck very simple

i agree with rev...provided manning can play i believe the colts would trade manning for multiple 1st round picks...highest bidder...
and begin a new with luck...i believe the window on the colts winning superbowls with that current roster has closed...
