Luck as Peyton's grasshopper for 1-2 seasons and if PM's still at the top of his game, Polian (who's smarter than the average GM) flips him for a Carson Palmer like deal. Win/Win for the Colts if they end up #1.

he is untradable at this point and, even though andrew is a pretty sure thing, there is no such thing as CANT miss. he gets injured, takes 2-3 years to see the nfl light, severe backlash and suckage will be the results . remember, manning is their dan marino, he is revered and is mr. colt. if manning has 6 months left of ball, much of the colts fan base will storm the complex if manning is let go resulting in a jj/wanny type backlash.
so, they let manning walk and luck is anything but a pro bowl selection in year one, things will not be good, even in the locker room!!
whats going to happen is, the colts WILL get the #1 pic [thats just the finz luck as of the past 2 decades] and they will select luck and peyton manning will give up a good chunk of his deal to get luck signed.
as i have said before, manning is not brett farve, he appreciates everything the colts and the indy community has done for him and will help invest in the colts long term future as he knows his time is short. he has taken exellent care of his money since day one and even if he devoted all his salary to luck he is BEYOND set for life financially as well as any kids may have after football is over so giving up some bank is an after thought for him.
we have ONE chance, and ONE CHANCE only to get luck and thats having the 1st pic. we dont have enough trade to dislodge the colts from the pic like some other teams do. it would take a ditka/ricky type all in for us to get luck from the colts but even then, i dont know if the colts would take a whole draft as they know the importance of a franchise qb and know you NEVER pass up a franchise qb when its in your lap like miami has 6 or 7 times over the last 10 years.

I think no matter who gets that first pick Miami will be trying everything they can to trade up for Luck. Do I think the Colts would trade away the first overall pick? I do, If it takes 3 first rounders you make it happen. If it takes 3 first rounders and Cameron Wake, or another one of our impact players, you make it happen.
Miami will be going all in on Luck and I truly believe that. But being a Dolphins fan, and suffering through all these years, even if we have a trade lined up for Andrew Luck, until his name is called and he's holding up that jersey I would expect something bad to happen.

I don't think Peyton gets traded if the Colts end up with the 1st pick. I think the first 3 years of his contract he gets paid $23 million each year and then it drops significantly. I can see them playing Peyton for the next 2 seasons as the starter and then putting Luck in there...should they get the first pick. At that point the teams salary cap would have significant room to maneuver in free agency and start building a team around Luck...at that point I think Peyton would retire and there won't be any backlash from fans who have been avid Manning fans. That would really be the ideal situation. I can't imagine, after everything Peyton has done for that franchise bringing them out of the abyss, Peyton being traded or released. He will retire a Colt and enter the Hall of Fame as a Colt.
Palmer is a different animal all together. He quit on the Bengals and demanded a trade. There was no love lost there by the fans when they traded him plus Dalton is playing well and getting better each week.

Like I said earlier, they'd probably follow the Favre/Rodgers plan and have him sit 3 years. Yeah thats a long time for Luck, but he gets to learn from the best while still getting paid. Indy would be foolish not to take him. He's the best talent in the draft and the 1st pick doesn't cost an arm and a leg anymore.
As far as Luck wanting to play there or not, idk it could happen. There was an article today on PFT about the Luck family making a power play, but I just can't see Luck saying no to Peyton Manning. I think he's too respectful to tell Manning that he doesn't want to learn from him.

I'm surprised nobody else has seen it from this perspective... If Peyton comes into the offseason healthy then the Colts automatically know they are once again SB contenders with PM at the helm. Now you mean to tell me that if they have the #1 pick and Finally have a chance to select a high impact player to help Peyton get another ring they pass up on that to take his replacement in a few years? Now they could very well do just that but to say it's guaranteed is a bit ridiculous imo. I could EASILY see them taking the best defensive player or playmaker on offense, or trading the pick for a couple of first rounders and probably a couple good players or so. You can set yourself up for the future too by adding a bunch of good players just from the draft picks you traded for to get Luck. Again idk... If I'm the GM I might still take Luck anyway but I'd have to think awefully long and hard about it if I still have the best QB to ever play the game sitting there ready to play a few more years.

i'm just shocked that the colts were able to get manning to sign a contract for 5 years that gave them a free out after one...really shocked...the colts must have saw the writing on the wall here with this neck thing that there was a high possibility he would never be right again...but manning unless he wouldn't have passed a physical should have never signed that deal...

I definately can see Indy trading the pick to build up the team for a last run at the Super Bowl in the Manning era. But if they don't get a great offer than I'd be shocked if they didn't take Luck. Luck gets compared to Manning a lot and they'd keep their window of being a Super Bowl contender open for another 10-15 years if they took Luck, where as even if they did trade it for a boatload of players/draft picks the window is really only going to be open for 2-3 years until Manning retires.

Yea, I feel you but as good as everyone thinks Luck is he still isn't a sure thing no matter what some of us fans think. Again though, I'm not saying the Colts won't draft luck but I don't think it's a lock that they will either.
The good thing is that they do have a lot of FAs coming up and I think Wayne is one of them...If they keep Luck and Manning is healthy they will be losing out on Wayne and some other key players. I know QBs like Manning and Brady can get it done with joe blows but losing Wayne will hurt them a lot. I think they will have to either trade down, or take Luck and trade him....
IMO i dont think Luck would want to play in INDY but he deffo prefer to come to Miami that is where i believe a trade would deffo be in the works add to the fact the Colts just dont need him now! Luck wont want to sit for 2 or 3 years wasting his career when hes the biggest talent in the game, I also believe the Dolphins will go ALL IN on Luck if there picking second offer 3 1sts and 2 2nds or Long and a couple of 1sts
