Very Likely 7 Round Mock Draft

Wheeler is horrible. Just watch the tape of the Fins vs. Raiders game a couple years ago - he did nothing.

I realize its unreasonable but I hope we go WR in the 1st, then all OL and LB's the rest of the draft.

With a better OL and scheme, Moreno can catch 75 balls out of the backfield and Miller is a 1000 yard back - book it. He got 700 last year with a trash OL.

I would not waste a high pick on a RB like Mason - but I do like West out of Towson as well.

Why waste a 4th on QB? Draft another LB instead and let them all battle to make the team.

If Tanny goes down we are screwed anyway. Never been a Moore or Devlin fan - both are garbage.

Miller is nothing more than a #3 change of pace back. He doesn't press the hole and is way to indecisive. He doesn't pick up any yards after contact, is a complete liability as a pass protector, and is only a decent receiver out of the backfield. Murray would be in the 5th, not the 4th. The only linebackers in this draft that are starters are Ryan Shazier and CJ Mosley (unless you want to count 3-4 outside linebackers that are pass rushers)

And Lewan would be the exception to the rule because Ross is obsessed with Michigan and would tell Hickey to draft him. But again I don't see him making it past Baltimore.

I think Lewan's talent and playing a position of need for Miami out weighs Ross just being a "Michigan man".

I agree that Miller is nothing but a change of pace back who IMO has no heart - hence no effort for extra yards - he's like the tin man of running backs. However, all we need him to be is a change of pace back - we need nothing else from him. He'll change the pace for us or he'll be on the bench.

Look at all the teams with beast running backs (besides Seattle of course) - they don't win....RB's are worthless these days.

Therefore, we might as well keep Miller, draft OL, WRs, and defense.

I would love to upgrade Miller with Mason (and cut DT), but I just don't want us to draft a RB in the top three rounds.

Mason doesn't make it to the 3rd and Jones doesn't make it to the 4th.

Would be a great draft though.

I think Hyde and Hill both go before Mason. And he received a 3rd round grade from the draft advisory board. I think there is a good chance he is there. If not Sankey is a good consolation price, although I prefer him in the 4th than 3rd. I encourage you to watch some more film of James. He is team captain, has made 49 starts and is a perfect fit for our offense. He is not a mauler in the run game, but can mirror defenders well ( which is exactly what the zone scheme is all about) and is a very good pass protector for a right tackle, some think he projects better to the left side because of his pass pro skills.

IMHO, there is something fundamentally wrong with the Tennessee offensive linemen. I was saying it last year and wanted no part of Dallas Thomas. I see the two guys in this draft as huge bust potential guys as well.

I can't put my finger on it. UT produces great players year after year at almost every position. But, this OL group is lacking something. I don't know of it is recruiting guys without fire, not quick thinking enough, laziness, or what ... but it really scares me. I would prefer to stay away from that unit for a few more years until whatever it is is gone and they get back to producing good football players along the OL.

Some guys can make the transition to the pros and others can't ... but this feels like something deeper with that group. I hold your opinion in high respect, but we disagree on these two UT tackles.

I like Mewhort a lot in the 3rd as well. He can play both guard spots as well as right tackle

I like him too, particularly at RT. He is a little slow afoot, but is so physically big that he is hard to run the arc against and holds up well to bull rushes. He gets beat a cross his face occasionally, but at RT Tannehill can handle that if the RG doesn't pick it up.

I like what that draft does for the offensive line. On paper, that offensive line looks like a strength. I also like picking up Jones in R4. I think he is a really underrated DT and IMO goes early than that. He would be an absolute steal at that point. Like Mason in the third.

I don't like having the same starting linebackers as last year, but I could live with that if our sack total is cut in half and this draft could do that. I also want to get one of the top receivers. Our unit is okay, but nothing that scares defensive coordinators. We could use a big guy who can win the 50/50 battles.

Overall, though, I'd definitely take that draft. Turning the offensive line from a weakness into a possible strength has to be the #1 priority this offseason.

What's your thoughts on getting Shazier or Mosley in R1, then filling in the offensive line in R2 and R3. James from Tennessee in R2 I think is a plug and play starter. What guards do you think can be had who would be instant starters in R3? Can Mewhort move to RG?

Do we have a 7th round pick or not?

As for the mock its boring but boring is to be expected after Martin took out most of our line with his hissy fit.

I didn't like Thomas either, and don't like Richardson. I think that James is far superior to both players.

I like both Shazier and Mosley a lot. Shazier is strictly a will, and Mosley can both mike and will. The only thing about Mosley is the medical. He's dislocated his elbow and hip, and had a few surgeries, one on his knee. For that reason I wouldn't feel comfortable taking him in the first, but off pure talent I have Shazier and Mosley in the top 10-15 range, so either would be a steal. The starting offensive lineman in this draft (at least good ones are) Robinson, Matthews, Lewan, James, Martin, Su'a-Filo, Bitonio, Gabe Jackson, Mewhort, and Richburg. Richburg can play guard as well as center, and at least one of Jackson, Mewhort, and Richburg should be there in the 3rd round.
