Vic Carucci - Good/Bad Ideas

Ronnie Brown reminds me a lot of Fred Taylor. He's big and fast. Spurrier underused him at Florida so he was somewhat of a question mark. When healthy, IMO he's one of the top 3 RB's in the league. Phins D has never had an answer for him in the 2 times they have faced him when healthy.

I've been thinking the exact same thing as RB comparison to Freddy.

I really hope Vic Carucci is wrong about Ricky and Rice for that matter... I personally would love bother to succeed even if it's just for one more season.

I'll say it for the 1,000,000,000,000th time...

I don't want Ricky back...he's a quitter and a cancer...

so what are you really trying to say? Are you saying that by midseason you will be wearing his jersey? fess up. :roflmao:

Now that it looks like Ricky is comming back to the Dolphins I guess i can look at it as if Ricky got hurt during the pre-season last year I'm talking about his conditioning a lot of players miss a year in the nfl and come back and have really good years. And i suppose Ricky can do the same. I don't believe it will take him that long to gain weight and to get into football condition. as many do. And as far as getting hit I'm pretty sure Ricky remembers that part of the game.

He is playing solely because of money and what he owes. He doesn't want to play because of love of the game or any kind of team motivating factors...just to pay debts. Just wish he would quietly go away and start that PRIVATE life he cried about.

Who cares what the team leaders want. The same team leaders that have won NOTHING on an NFL level ever!
Its not what they want; its that they said they would accept him back. Saban is running this team and apparently either he or someone in the press asked the opinion of JT, zach etc.

Too bad Mr Carucci doesnt realize that most of our supposed team leaders have already said theyd take him back. In addition, I think he fails to realize the sense of urgency that NFL coaches feel to win now. When you're 4-12; you do ANYTHING you can to get back respectability immediately. Losing, even without someone who walked out on the team, is awful for team and fan moral. And its not like RW's contract is a heavy cap hit. Its not liek we're talking about some back up here either. This is a pro bowl level RB.

He was a pro bowl back 30 lbs ago. He isnt the same ricky and wont be for at least a year.

I don't see Ricky being an injury risk. He is now a certified yoga instructor. My guess is he'll recover more quickly than in prior years. Yes, he will take some time to adjust to the pounding but his body will respond more quickly. Even if he doesn't gain all of his playing weight back, at worst he'll be a third down change of pace type back. Worst case scenario he cuts Browns workload in half, best case by one third. Taking the time to learn the NFL game from a spectator's perspective will prove to be a long term asset as Brown progresses in his NFL career. I've said it before and I'll say it again; I was upset that Ricky quit when he quit, not that he quit. I say welcome back, teach the new kid what you know for two years then go your merry way into stretching and breathing bliss!

Unfortunatly he has bad hands and wont ever be a third down back.

Funny, I could have sworn that in 2003 he said he played at 220ish anyway? So maybe it wasnt 30 lbs ago?

And you can predict that he wont be a strong back for us this year because.....?

At the very worst Ricky would be trade fodder--If he stays he could extend Brown's career by taking some of the workload- I think we shouldn't bear grudges and do whatever it takes to help the team

At the very worst? Are you serious? Were you in hibernation last season? With all due respect, Ricky's return could be a lot worse than trade fodder. He could upset team chemistry, he could bail out on us again, and he could make the Dolphins the laughingstock of the league. I'm very excited and happy about Saban's moves so far, but I am nonplussed by this Ricky thing. We have just drafted a talented RB. We don't need to bring another one in, who has a penchant for screwing things up. Maybe Saban should familiarize himself with the old Chinese proverb: "Do not balance yourself between two boats, for when you fall you will land in neither".

I respectfully disagree. Depth at any position is a good thing, especially when you are talking about quality depth. The RB position is one that is prone to injury (see last season). In the event it happens this year, we won't have to depend on 2nd stringers to carry the load. Also, sharing carries without diminishing a quality running game, lessens the chance of either starting RB being injured.

I, for one, like having two boats.

He averaged 50 catches a year from 2000 to 2003. It is an option.

Thoose were all on screens. He cant split out or give you a real recieving threat out of the backfield like Brown can. He also drops alot of easy screens.

You cant just smoke pot for a year and hope to be in football shape. He could add the weight but it would be the wrong kind of weight this season unlees he is closer friends to David Boston than we all think. Any one can put on 20-30 pounds but 20-30 pounds of muscle is a whole different story.
