Vickerson & Wright Get the "Brook Trout Look"; Saban's Newest PC Transcript

Not really. If a guy is getting popped for drugs, it shows that his head isn't on straight and thinks of himself before his team and whatnot. However, I believe that Hawthorne turned it around. I am just saying it would be nice to hear Vickerson od that because the guy has serious skills but really hasn't tapped them yet.

If it wasn't for the drugs then Hawthorne would of been at the very least a 3rd round pick. Vickerson was a 7th round pick because he was a 7th round pick. Hawthrone was not considered closely as much of a project Vickerson was considered. Hawthrone was a guy who was slated to be a 1st round pick after the season was over, heck some mock drafts had him going in the top 10. Vickerson was never considered for the first round.

Being caught for drugs and having low mental toughness and motor do not go hand in hand. Dupree is right. Hawthorne is a very different situation.

I agree that it is different but it still shows a lack of maturity and an improper mental attitude. Anyone who says differently is wrong. Anyhow, the point isn't really even about Hawthorne. My point is about Vickerson and how he seems to be playing himself out of a roster spot. Granted, seventh rounders aren't assured anything, but you had to figure that with Bowens retiring and Chester ocming off injuries, that the kid basically had to show up on time, play hard and stay out of trouble and he was golden. Well, he has showed up late and looked so-so in games.

That was ym main point. It just stinks to see a guy who you think has turned the corner ( based off his college year ) but turns out hasn't.

Lets get something straight... If Saban saw NOTHING he wouldnt have been so angry at the PC and he wouldnt have bothered...He sees something wether or not its enough to make the team..thats another story.

I have to disagree, I thought he did pretty decent in the games. Maybe not enough to make the roster his first year but enough to make some roster or a practice squad. Pretty good for a 7th round pick.

Plus from what i remember he showed up on time and has been working really hard during practices since training camp. From what I have read about him the light did go off. He just needs the fire.

In Wright's case, the brook trout look could also be gasping for air on the bank!:D

If you ask me its conditioning. When the practices get to the point that they aren't so physically exhausting anymore, you can see that "eye of the tiger" come on because right now they may be a little downtrodden about how demanding things are and how they aren't quite measuring up.

So what is the difference between so-so in games and pretty decent? It sounds like we came away with about the same impression of him at the games, just used different verbage. Vickerson showed up for trainging camp on time but before that he was showing up late to meetings and things of that nature. He also had issues such as this during college but seemed to turn it around again, his last year. That is why I thought he would be an impact rookie. He has all the talent in the world but never had the intensity needed. He showed that during his last days in college but seems to have lost it now.

Maybe ck is right, perhaps he is just tired from two a days and whatnot, but then again, everyone is tired from two a days and they aren't being called out by name.

Saban is an old school coach. Break them down so he can build them back up.

Also if you read the transcript he pretty much said what I said. He mentioned them because they are young and with these two it is too be expected.

I LOVE how Saban goes off on some bizarre tangent that has nothing to do with football...yet he somehow makes it work.

So there I am, in Sri Lanka, formerly Ceylon, at about 3 o'clock in the morning, looking for one thousand brown M&Ms to fill a brandy glass, or Ozzy wouldn't go on stage that night.

So, Jeff Beck pops his head ’round the door, and mentions there’s a little sweets shop on the edge of town. So - we go. And - it’s closed. So there’s me, and Keith Moon, and David Crosby, breaking into that little sweets shop, eh. Well, instead of a guard dog, they’ve got this bloody great big Bengal tiger. I managed to take out the tiger with a can of mace, but the shopkeeper and his son...that’s a different story altogether. I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really. But sure enough, I got the M&Ms. And Ozzy went on stage and did a great show.

Exactly, and pointing out (not you) that he was making a point of saying Gus and AJ, as in "them" is too polarized, because Coach Saban is the master of misdirection, of not saying what he means even when he is explaining things. One thing we all need to accept is the Coach Saban is not going to release any information until HE is ready to and would not do it in rhymes. Look at his press conferences and look how he circumvents/skirts the questions by leading you to an answer that is acceptible, yet is not really anything with substance.

Want to know who is going to start and what the depth chart will be? Wait until game day or for a Coach Saban press conference/release where he directly says; (for example) "Joe Dirt will be our starting QB until the situation or I decie otherwise." [note how even that is really leaving something open for interpretation].

Go Finz!

Both....as in Gus and AJ....not Sage...not Berlin.....GUS and AJ are BOTH capable of doing it.

So much for Feeley being 4th on the depth chart....

Thank you!

But I have a feeling that you might have a better chance trying to convince some posters here that the sky is really red.

Yeah

Plus Infins u know I am with you my man on Feeley.

However, it appears, as of now, Frerotte is the guy.

So IMO it is time to start supporting Frerotte and stop promoting Feeley.

I mean, Feeley will still get his shot and Feeley may end up being the QB, but right now it's Frerottes job to lose.

Time to just accept it and trust Saban is making the right call.
