Lineart will be the 3rd QB taken in the draft, at best second.

It was so apparent to see that Lineart's success is in large part due to the incredible talent he has around him, two 6'5 recievers, Bush, White.

Young, though raw, projects as an NFL version of M Vick. I am convinced Young is a hybrid QB with far greater upside than Lineart. Able to put a team on his shoulders, lead a game winning drive without needing to be sorrounded by superior talent.

Lineart would struggle going to a 3-13 team void of talent. Young would carry that team.

Linearts arm would be best served in a west coast style offense vs vertical. If you map his passes, mostly horizontal, few deep out cuts, posts, some fades down the sideline but that is not arm challenging as inside deep routes or out cuts to wide side of the field.

Young seems a cross of Randall Cunningham and M Vick with a gun on his shoulder.

This is the #1 QB.
 
Leinart goes above Young...

whilst there is a lot of hype today, understandably so, people will eventually take a step back, realise Matt actually had a decent game himself, and re-consider the fact that Matt is the better pro style QB.
 
I would rather have Troy Smith of Ohio State over both of them...Shame he won't be in this upcoming draft. As far as Leinart or Young I just can't see taking Young over Leinart with that funky throwing motion of Young's...I know he had a great game and a lot of passing yards but his mechanics will not translate well in the NFL.

His mechanics are fine thank you. If you take the time and watch some older QB's that have not only played the game...but some are in the HOF...you would see duck...quails...and what ever...thrown by them....the only item that matters is winning....and how you win is not important. That funky motion as you call it...is rated far better than Leinart's. Rivers has the same throw motion...yet he was highly rated as a QB....go figure.

Ok...That's cool...Maybe you're right. I haven't watched him much...Not enough to really give an accurate assessment...That's just the impression I've gotten from the times I've seen him play. But I still say at this point someone will try to help him change those mechanics. From the limited time I've spent watching these two QB's I would have to say that IMO Leinart's Mechanics are much more sound.

I disagree wholeheartedly.

Yes Young is an athlete capable of big plays as he showed last night.

However, his skills IMO just don't transfer over to the pro game at QB. Look at Mike Vick, yeah he's an athlete and in college he ruled the field just like Young, but in the Pro's, being a great athlete just isn't good enough. Vick has problems going through progressions and reading defenses quickly enough to be a top QB. He all too often takes off running which is what he's been taught or allowed to do through college into the pros. This tendency continues to hamper Vicks growth as a pro QB and I believe it will end up being the reason Young never becomes a top NLF QB.

The speed in the NFL changes things greatly and while he's a great scrambler it's not enough to dominate a game like he could in college. In the pro's you have to be a QB first and scrambler second.

Vince Young will have the same problems Vick has in the NFL. He'll be a good QB and will have the ability to take over a game with his scrambling against weeker teams. The good teams will shut his scrambling lanes down, keep him contained and make him actually read defenses and throw the ball. This is where his weaknesses will show just like Vick.

Lineart, to me, is clearly the better pro prospect and the one that will go much farther in the NFL. He reads the defenses quickly and has the accuracy to not only get the ball to his receivers but get them the ball in the best areas for the receiver to make the catch away from the defender who's on them. I see so many throws he makes to receivers in tight coverage and the ball is put in the perfect spot away from the DB. That is what will make him a top NFL QB.

Vick wishes he could throw like Young....when has Vick ever thrown for 75% comp rate? Comparing Vick to Young....should only be for running reason's only.
 
vick set a freshman record for passing efficiency in college, the same stat you push so hard with young, pete

I agree with the title of this thread that Vince clearly was the best QB last night, I am not convinced, however, that he will be taken over Leinert in draft.

As been pointed out before, even though he was 2nd best last night, Matt had a hell of a second half. His final line was not anything to be embarassed by. His body of work at USC has been very good and I dont think one loss will, in the long run, overshadow that. Having said all that, if Vince comes out I think he will be top 10 for sure, maybe top 5. (I think he will enter the draft)

Re: Troy Smith WAY too early to say he is better than Vince or Matt, but man he was really impressive against ND. He should be a lot of fun to watch.

How can you look into the future and "assume" Young will fail as a pro-quaterback? Vince Young led his team to victory against the better team, Leinart could not. Even with Bush, White, two great recievers and solid D, he still could'nt pull out a win. Nothing against Leinart thought, obviously he's a great quaterback. It's just unfair to say Vince Young won't make it in the pros just because he reminds you of Mike Vick. The Longhorns don't have great receivers like USC does and USC's O-line is better too, but Leinart was still sacked twice, while Young ran for first downs. If Vince Young "can't read" defenses, then why wasn't he sacked during the game? When Young was pressured, he just threw the ball for first downs. Yes folks he can pass, he passed for over 2500 yds this season and won the top quaterback award this year, he was also 30/40 in the title game. Young looked calm under pressure and doesn't run around in circles and get sacked like Vick. If Young's college stats don't mean anything, then maybe you should throw Leinart's stats out the window too. Both Leinart and Young will be great and BTW............the majority of "pro-style" QBs aren't that good.
