OK, this doesn't really apply to us, since we just pick up Ronnie Brown and we have Ricky back now, but does anyone think Vince Young would get drafted as a RUNNING back? All the scouting reports of him say he is basically a running back playing QB, and being a Texas fan I can pretty much second that. Plus his passing stats aren't that great for a QB but his rushing stats are right up there with some of the top RBs in college. It's obvious he will be in the NFL, but at what position? I say he has a better future as a RB, someone should draft him and convert him. I've seen QBs drafted as WRs and TEs before, but I can't recall any being drafted to play RB, have there been?

*EDIT* Crap, this isn't really Miami Dolphins related so I guess it's in the wrong forum, sorry

I would still think he'll be a QB. thats the direction the NFL seems to be moving in. Mobility is creeping up to being as important as arm strength.

I just hope we take Omar Jacobs from BG. I was talking about him with a couple of friends and I feel we need a QB who is more like Cullpepper(sp) than a P. Manning.

He sucks.

In order to be a quarterback, you MUST be able to throw the ball. This guy cant do that.

Line him up as a RB and he wont have the same success, since defenses expect him to run.

check Mike Vicks stats last year and tell me that again...

Err.. We are not talking about Vick here, we are talking about Young, who throws the ball a lot worse than Vick.

we need a pure passer. i dont like the hybrid mix of a qb. i like a pocket passer like manning. also we have two damn good back to run the ball. we need a thrower now.

vick stats 2300 yards, 14 Tds, 12 ints.
thats decent.

go with leinart!!!!!!

IMO, not really. Look at the last 10 Super Bowl winning QB's...

(starting with last season going backwards):

1. Tom Brady
2. Tom Brady
3. Brad Johnson
4. Tom Brady
5. Trent Dilfer
6. Kurt Warner
7. John Elway
8. John Elway
9. Brett Favre
10. Troy Aikman

Good running QB's are definately getting more popular as of late, but they aren't producing the desired results. It looks to me like the trend is being set in the last 5 years that the "caretaker" QB has been the most dominant. The one that doesn't lose the game for you but isn't usually asked to win it for you either has been the most succesful. It's still a TEAM game.

add recievers to that list of what a QB must have...

So, in order to be a QB you MUST be able to throw the ball AND have someone who can challenge NFL DB's and catch it. Vick's best reciever was his tight end, who isn't a Tony G. Vince doesn't even come close to comparing to Vick.

I said it was creeping up, which means its making its way up. Guys like culpepper, mcnabb, vick, or mcnair have made solid careers out of it so far

If you are such a big UT fan you should be aware that Vince has the ability to be a top passer in college football. Unfortunately, last year he had absolutely no one to throw to and Mack Brown has a Run dominated offensive philosophy. You have to remember that he didnt have Roy Williams, BJ Johnson, or Sloan Thomas, in fact his only reliable reciever was his TE who lead the team in recieving with around 425 yds. People look at Vince's passing stats and assume he can't throw the ball when in reality he's got freakish arm strength and exceptional touch, he just needs to improve his mechanics a bit and play under a more pass friendly offense.

theres no guarentee that Omar Jacobs will even come out next year. Why is everybody hoping that we draft someone that might not even come out this year.

I'm no rocket scientist... but I'm pretty sure it goes hand in hand with them hoping he comes out this year...

so you guys know

He was leaning on LSU until he was asked to try out at wr, he immediately chose UT:) , he has always said he is a QB thats it. I live outside of Houston and saw him play in HS- unfreakingbelievable,I was at the Madison-North Shore playoff game in the dome. After seeing that game nothing surprises me that he does, and he sure as hell could pass in HS,I hope his motion gets fixed.
