Vince Young

You gotta be kidding me. I've watched alot of Texas games and have yet to see his "freakish" arm strength or "exceptional" touch. He's a god-awful passer, plain and simple.

As for the original question, he's not going to be a RB.....that would be re.tarded. He's way too tall and would be very vulnerable to big hits. Wouldn't last long there. I think he'll make a good WR though.

Why is everybody hoping that we draft someone that might not even come out this year.
The better question is why is everyone hoping we take him when 99.9% of the people here haven't seen him play (Omar Jacobs).

He was leaning on LSU until he was asked to try out at wr, he immediately chose UT:) , he has always said he is a QB thats it. I live outside of Houston and saw him play in HS- unfreakingbelievable,I was at the Madison-North Shore playoff game in the dome. After seeing that game nothing surprises me that he does, and he sure as hell could pass in HS,I hope his motion gets fixed.

:yeahthat:

Vince was an amazing athelete coming out of HS. Contrary to a lot of beliefs, he can straight up PLAY. I think he will surprise a lot of doubters this season with his passing game....he's really done as Vick has done the last few seasons in trying to stay in the pocket a lot more. He has a better arm than Vick, IMO and I think he will really surprise.

Also, I really think he SHOULD play QB. I hate all the changes that they force players to make just because of their athelticism. If Vick wasn't make of glass, they would've likely tried to beef him up into RB. Still, I'm not sure Vince is the type of prototype QB we'll be looking for. IMO, Young we be drafted around 10th overall at the highest but I feel he'll go in the late end of the first round to someone who would take a risk on a beast like this i.e. Oakland, St. Louis, New Orleans, Detroit

I agree with that. Unless he makes major strides as a passer this season, pro teams are going to use his athleticism by putting him at WR rather than lining him up as a RB. He's the prototype size for a receiver.

i always assume that speedy QBs translate better to WRs than RBs. RBs are accustomed to the hits and have that shiftiness in the shoulders and hips more than the legs like a vick or like young or how WRs are after the catch. if young learned anything about routes in Texas he might try his hand at WR. I certainly don't want to draft him as a QB.

I'm no rocket scientist... but I'm pretty sure it goes hand in hand with them hoping he comes out this year...

hehehe :rofl3:

I like Vince Young, and like it was posted earlier, he did lose his top 3 wideouts, and his most reliable weapons were tight ends. Plus the guy had a great running back in Cedric Benson. The funny thing about people who criticize Vince Young for throwing sidearm, is that some of these people like Omar Jacobs, whose throwing motion is just as bad, if not worse than Young's. He's a project, he may have the most upside of any collegiate QB, but he's also probably got the biggest risk factor into becoming a bust. Talent wise he's great, but he's gotta put it all together. The thing that really impressed me about Young, is during the rose bowl with 4 first rd picks playing, (Johnson, Benson, Jackson, Edwards,) he was clearly the best player on the field.

Forget Young as a QB in the NFL. I live in Austin and not only get my dose of UT football but even the majority of the sports "experts" in the area agree Young either needs to improve his passing or be prepaired to go tothe NFL as an athlete. The QB you want to look at is Reggie McNeal at Texas A&M.

No Young didn't have the best WR's last year, but hedid the year before. Anyway it's UT and an average UT class is still better than 75% of the other QB's have to work with.

First off...Sorry to all of the Texas fans out there!!!!! Texas will never win a championship again or will they win the Big 12 anytime soon. Vince Young isn't a NFL qb period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay now that that's out of the way, I would rather have Omar Jacobs or Reggie McNeil if you want a moblie qb. So please, please, please stop with the Vince Young BS!!!!

I would rather have Tyler Palko and alot of other Qb's other than Omar Jacobs, his throwing motion is gonna need to be reworked. The talent is there, but he may take 3 years to be an adequate NFL passer.

Doesn't strike me as an NFL QB. As someone else astutely posted, Young's mechanics are lousy, too long and loose. He'll have to tighten that up considerably and demonstrate much better accuracy and pocket patience to be a high pick, or even looked at behind center. At least he's not a laser liner on every pass. The variety of loft is fine along with the arm strength.

I was there too because Vince's team beat our team (Katy) just before that game.. That was one insane game

But Vince was everyhting for them.. We had them close but Vince was way too much.. ended the game picking off my friend and returning it for a TD

Vince Young is a terrible quarterback prospect. Absolutely terrible! There's nothing he does well that says he can play quarterback in the NFL. The ONLY thing he can do is run. That's it.

His saving grace right now is that the media is hyping him up. A lot of hype, very little substance.

Not only is Vince Young not the best quarterback in the nation. He's not even the best in his state. The best quarterback at a Texas University is Kevin Kolb at Houston. Jordan Palmer at UTEP and the kid at TCU, Ty Gunn, are better quarterbacks as well.

Kevin Kolb is the guy who will not surprise me if he becomes a first round pick in 2006.

I think Reggie McNeil is also a better QB than Vince Young..

I have seen Vince Young play personally and he has a weird release, he doesnt have the cannon arm and hes not that accurate.. All he does is run like you have said, thats good enough to get you through College but I dont see him being a high draft pick

A voice of reason that no one will listen to...Vince Young is a running back. A running back that would get killed in the NFL because he runs too upright. He is not an NFL Q.B. prospect by any stretch of the imagination...yet some of you insist on hyping him relentlessly.

The guy is Eric Crouch...

Thanks KB...your input is always valued and insightful...

Now...let the "Vince Young is the best Q.B. in the history of college football" discussion resume....
