Vonnie Holliday can becoome a Cap Casualty, Beck to be Traded and Dolphin Signings

I have no idea what your on about. Could you explain this? It sounds very interesting.

I had no idea there were rules like this...

teams are allowed to activate 45 players for game day. They can also activate a 3rd QB, who does not count towards the 45.

I did mix up the rule about him entering the game though.....I believe the correct rule is that if that player enters the game prior to the 4th quarter, then the other 2 QB's can't re-enter the game.

Do you know what is amazing? It's that people around here don't know how to read their own posts.

Example : FinAtic8480 wrote this about Omar's article. In his title he said Beck was to be traded. but the article actually says he probably wont be traded. Come on people learn how to read.

Quote:
"The Dolphins are not expected to make any moves at QB this offseason, aside from a possible trade of John Beck. Miami shopped Beck last offseason, but asked for a fourth-round pick and got no takers. Beck will likely remain the Dolphins' third QB in 2009 with Chad Pennington safely ahead of Chad Henne, at least to open the season."

Now don't take this to mean anything about my support or lack thereof for trading Beck. I am just commenting on the misleading title of the post.

It doesn't take but a few seconds to read the article to know that it is possible but not likely. So before we get into another long drawn out discussion of the furture of the third string qb why don't we just discuss more important things.

What this is all about is that some want desperately to be right about Beck being or not being a bust and want to rub in the face of some other board member. I am really more interested in other things that will help the dolphins.

only problem with that is that Beck's roster spot is as the 3rd QB. If they were to use White as you say, that would mean one less active spot at another position. If White were 'active' as the 3rd QB, if he entered the game, even as a WR, neither of the 1st 2 QB's could re-enter the game until the 4th quarter.

But White would be active as a WR. He would be used as an emergency QB if the first two went down. For instance; White is active as say...The 4th WR. CP and CH are QBs. CP and CH both get injured. White switches to play QB, though, he's still listed as a WR. This is just like RB being moved over to take the snap from the wildcat, essentially.

That's true but then he would then be considered part of the active 45 players, essentially taking someone else spot not Becks.

I think holliday is gone, but Beck has no trade value and why would a team trade for a guy like Beck when they can draft late and find that type of guy. The cowboys already have Bollinger who has shown to be better than Beck.

sure they can do that.

I was just addressing the proposed idea of P.White take Beck's roster spot (which has been as the 3rd QB) and being used as part of the game plan.

Beck doesn't have much trade value, but he would be better suited as a backup QB than a rookie available in the 6th or 7th round. So a team in need of a backup now, as opposed to a developmental prospect, would be better off with Beck IMO.

I would really like to see Vonnie retained. We are far enough under the salary cap that cutting our defensive captain shouldn't be required.

You guys are saying Beck has no value and sucks based on what? His 1st year playing under a joke of a head coach in Cam and a team that had zero preparation for the games. An OL that was absolutely brutal that year. The kid lives and breathes football. He has talent - who knows how well he improved this year. To suggest you CUT him or trade him for a 7th is ridiculous!

He is in a good system with good coaches. Henne is the new regimes guy. That doesn't mean Beck is no good. I think he may be traded to the Cowboys but for a guy like McQuistan not for a 7th rd pick. That would be a waste! A young 3rd string QB is much more valuable than a low 7th rd pick - and to say you would replace him with White? :shakeno: Please - Just say NOOOOOOOOOO!

If Hilliard doesn't have a future in the NFL and Lowber isn't an answer at wide out, why did we just sign them to reserve/future contracts? Maybe the writer doesn't know squat about recognizing talent.

I was hammering TunaCo for the Hilliard pick. I don't see the need for a slow Ron Dayne.

why is everyone already deciding that pat white is a dolphin? we are interested in him but, so are other teams!

Teams are always thirsty for QBs. We can put Beck on the market and there will be tugs at the line...but we won't get much for him.

No higher than 4th I hope.

 But he's a fine young QB. There are people on this site that tell me so. How can all these NFL GMs just fail to see this kids overflowing talent?

The same way they didn't see the talent in 6th round pick Tom Brady or top 3 pick Ryan Leaf, cause obviously drafting isn't an exact science, but I'm sure your genius could be used in the NFL since you know more than everyone else.:rolleyes2:BTW, weren't you also one of those "fans" that thought Joey Porter was washed up?
