I see alot of interesting threads today, but I notice someone doesn't seem to be getting called out.

We have heard by many how Vontae is as good as Revis or his ceiling is higher, or he has the potential to be as good as Revis one day.

I have been hearing, by many, disagree with myself and others that Smith is actually the better corner.

So, with such a horrible game last night, why is Vontae Davis not being mentioned on this board? Correct me if I am wrong, he got abused last night, and on atleast 2 of those long pass plays I saw #21 trailing his WR.

Just curious. Did I miss something or did Davis have a poor game?

Also, I am already missing Crowder. I know Burnett is better. But, this defense NEVER looked as lost and unorganized when Crowder was in the game. Crowder was responsible for the aligments, shifts changes etc.... This defense looked completely lost

Props to Henne. Being a Henne basher I have to tip my hat to him. 1 negative is that he still can't get it done in the red zone. He had some drops, but he missed a few opportunities.

However, what he showed is he can be as good as Orton. We can't put the team on his shoulders, but he atleast showed that he can help the team win rather then be a hindrance.

He played a great game, and if our defense showed up he did enough to win that game.

The CB's had bad games, but I'm telling you, Reshad Jones was the biggest liability in that secondary last night. Terrible decision starting him. He was absolutely zero help in pas coverage the entire night. He was out of place the entire night and he took bad angles the entire night. I don't even wanna rewatch it, I know what I saw.

Davis is good for giving up at least one 40 yard pass play/game, every game. Aside form the one or two where he holds his man in check.

Vontae Davis has all the talent as a DB but this regime has not developed him and most importantly pushed him. The kid needs to be pushed, and honestly I can't stand his ****yness, he hasn't done sh#t yet. Sean Smith does not have the same talent ceiling that Vontae has, but he can still be a good corner if the guy can tackle #1 and #2 catch the ball.

Its pretty sad that he got beat downfield by Welker a couple of times, lucky Welker dropped the one. I don't see how he has more upside or potential than Revis... Revis is a smarter player and is a better athlete.

Vontae Davis workout numbers- 5'11 201. 4.49 40-time, 6.75 3-cone, 37 vertical

Darrelle Revis workout numbers-5'11 204, 4.38 40-time, 6.56 3-cone, 38 vertical

Your entire secondary was shredded last night, but it seems to be the story around the league right now. Most 300+ yard pass performances in NFL history for a week of NFL games. Defenses must be behind with the lockout and new training camp rules.

There isnt a single guy on this defense that shouldn't be called out. They looked like bums out there. I could have thrown for 300 yards.

Can't really disagree with any of this. Even the Pat's secondary got torched for 416 yards.

Vontae isn't getting called out because there are too many other people to call out. Plus I think most are fairly certain Vontae will bounce back.

Davis wasnt covering Welker. He was covering Slater.

Eery secondary in the league wa getting burned over the weekend.

The secondary got burned constantly and consistently because of the vaunted front sevens inability to put a body on Brady. Our "great" front seven had ONE sack, and TWO hits on the pretty boy. Not beating Brady with statistics like that...

Darelle Revis is a great corner, but not a better athlete than Vontae. I don't care what the combine numbers say if you watch the film, Vontae is a better athlete than revis. Rookie year there was a play on special teams where Vontae hawked a dude down when the returner had about a 25 yard head start. Revis just simple isn't as great of a PURE athlete than Vontae is, I also think Vontae (due to his athleteic abiltiy) has a chance to be the best, at least the most explosive tackling CB in the league. But it is true, as of right now, He pretty much is a liability.

lol ok whatever you say. That is why Revis was a beastly basketball player before he went to football full time in college because he knew his chances of being a NBA player were low with him being 5'11.
IDK how the film says Davis is a better athlete but whatever.
