Vontae is sending the wrong message to his teammates, becoming a cancer?

Never realized how many ESPN fans we have on this board.

Not everyone on a team can or should be a leader...most are followers. I agree the guy should be in shape and working, but dont take on some BS "leader" persona simply because youre a veteran.

if anything the only message i'm concerned about vonte sending out... is that it's possible to be highly intelligent, and read books, and still speak like you didn't make it past the eigth grade.

That being said, I think he's smart enough to turn this around, I like vonte and I expect better of him.

Dont forget he was also suspended from the KC game last year and didnt make the trip...im still not sure what the hell was going on there.

I remember seeing Vontae on TV as a rookie and worrying because he sounded retarded- and I mean Special Ed retarded, wear a safety helmet walking down the street and ride the special little bus kind of stuff. Disturbing. And I remember being pissed because we missed a shot at Percy Harvin by three picks or so. Hopefully Davis gets it in gear, because the dude is really talented. But seriously, when he speaks he appears to have the mental capacity of a child.

Makes you wonder how he scored a 33 on the wonderlic or more than double what Dan Marino scored

Im pretty sure but not positive that vontae showed up to a practice late and hungover...apparently brandon marshall threw the ball at his face or something too..

I agree!

You think that kind of **** would be going on with Ray Lewis or Brian Urlacher on the team? No! It is time for someone like Dansby to step up and become the leader of this D and keep these *******s in line. Play and play hard or hit the road jack because the only thing Davis has proved in 4 years is inconsistence and idle chatter.

The problem is that, as you recall from the lockout last season, Dansby was in worse shape and was just as much of a part of our defense being garbage for the first 10 weeks.

But my point it that VD should be walking up and down that sideline telling his teammates to dig deep and work harder, but instead he is telling them lets "act" like were working hard. We saw Coyle scream at him during a segment to call out a play and coyle had a frustrated look on his face and said "come on vontae I'm counting on you". Were trying to turn this thing around and we dont need guys like VD sending negative vibes, I still like VD and think he can be one heck of a CB but I'm losing patience. You guys see Jake Long gather the offensive lineman and say lets f'n go? now thats a leader!

That's a little difficult to do when you're the one that's gassed. He didn't tell everyone else to fake it. He said HE would try to hide it from the coach. Obviously he failed. Before anyone calls him a cancer we should wait to see how he responds to what happened.

Agreed,

It seems rather obvious to me that VD(Vonte Davis not Venereal Disease) has some sort of speech disorder or speech impediment. Ofcourse, its also not surprising that some people have tried to use this as proof that he's stupid. Ironically, his wonder lick score(if we were using it as a test of intelligence) as a guess would probably place him in the upper echelon of NFL players.

I find it interesting that one of the two things Philbin asked for from HBO hardknocks is being ignored.

He stated he didn't want the filming to come in between the relationship his coach staff and players are developing.

Showing Davis's comments and then Philbin's looks like HBO is using both sides to create staff/player controversy.
