Solder was just literally falling on him to prevent him from doing anything when he tried to go low and burn around the size. He would just put his weight on him, boom, done. I'm a little worried because they've already stated Wake isn't push of a "bulldozer" type where he can just push you back (although dude is huge so I don't know..).

He looked exhausted out there last night.

ps - was there a lot of holding going on? Seemed like it..I saw a lot of hands on the outside of pads.

He was schooled by a rookie last night but he is still a great threat on defense.

Don't know why we didn't move him around more. But really I don't know about ANYTHING we were doing on defense last night. All our stars looked average to horrible.

But the worst/scariest part to me was how we obviously couldn't handle the Pats no huddle at all.. every pre snap our guys were looking around and obviously not sure of where they were supposed to be lining up. I hope the Pats shred another D just so we don't look so bad.

I don't think he was schooled, the rookie more than held his own though. Wake was the only person out there really giving a damn it seemed like. He was gassed, but atleast he had good reason.

Pay the man . . . he is the heart of this defense.

Wake keeps getting owned by rookie Tackles he will be moving: Back to the CFL.

Without Cam Wake last night, New England scores 50+ . . . he was the only person getting any pressure on Brady . . . even if it was few and far apart.

He was being held a lot but they weren't calling it. They only called it once the entire game.

Defense as a whole sucked though. Pats bring 7 lineman to the game, lose their starting Center and we still can't get to Brady. It was horrific. None of our DBs could cover, their TEs ran amok, we had matchup issues all over the field. We just can't matchup against them and we haven't drafted to address the issue for the last 3 years.

Our O-line played awful (so much for all you who said it would be so much better once Jake Long played...he didn't play well last night either, looked very rusty), you can't run Reggie between the tackles repeatedly he's best when he gets a few outside runs but our Guards can't pull so we're pretty limited on our running plays. Really the passing offense did great but it won't be enough to win a lot of games and it's a lot of pressure to have to execute every game with the lack of a running game and the defense playing like garbage.

They were holding him but I agree, you'd expect more against a rookie RT. Not the performance I expected. Outside of 3-4 plays, there was ZERO pass rush.

Of course, it had to be the holding... it's not like a rookie tackle who has never played right tackle, starting in his first game in the NFL could rag doll a Pro Bowler like that.... had to be holding ROFL

Face it, Solder was impressive given the challenge.

He was, no question, their entire OLine played well. But Wake was the only person in the front 7 that was giving a great effort . . . the entire DLine is in the dog house after that game.

It was surprising and I expect Wake to bounce back but I think you could see across the league that the offenses are way ahead of defenses at this point. Things will settle down. I think just about every qb had 300+ yards this week.

it was borderline holding I'll tell you that. Cant even count the number of times I spotted solder's arm hooked around Wake's neck as they fell to the ground, its not blatant obvious holding but still wish they called it, you know, to keep it fair as they called everything on us...

he does need a new "move". you are correct sir.

i said this on the board since the end of last season. wake was figured out by game 9, his move was figured out and even when guys couldnt deal with the move, teams new we had NO other rusher and would have backs or te's chip him and he was skunked the last 4 or 5 games.

i said it was IMPARATIVE that we find another REAL pass rusher in the off season, almost as important as figuring out the qb situation. and they didnt even try. not in the draft or f/a.

last night was just a continuance of last year.

miami has had the same short time and limited practices and meetings as EVERY OTHER TEAM. but some dealt with it like ther pats, the pack, jets, bills, eagles, etc........

all in all, even though i like the new philosophy on offense, it was still the same old fin game, 17 points for MOST of the game, we got a so what score after the game was long over. low scoring, bad play calling, mistakes, penalties, cant cover the te [will that ever stop?]. same finz, just a few more passes.

It's easy to blame the refs. It's more difficult to face the reality that the guy outplayed Wake. Even if he was holding and getting away with it, that's even more impressive that he was able to keep the refs from seeing it. I'll take a tackle that holds and doesn't get called for it over a pass rushing player who can't get out of a hold. And please, let's not start with the "NFL doesn't call anything on the Patriots"...

Wake will bounce back. He just needs to evaluate what he did wrong this game and correct it.
