Wanny's Pitt loses again!

The ending of the game was brutal for Wannstedt and Pitt. They attempted a FG with 7 seconds left, maybe 48 yards. The holder wasn't even looking as the center snapped the ball prematurely. It caroomed off the holder's helmet. Remarkably, it went smack to the kicker who had the smarts to throw an incomplete pass with one second left. Nebraska complained it should have been intentional grounding, which was probably true but the refs didn't call it.

It wasn't 4th down on the initial attempt. On the second chance Nebraska overloaded the left side of Pitt's formation and the inside rusher blocked the kick. Pitt was 2 for 5 on FG attempts in a one point loss.

Hey give him a little credit he didnt recruit any of those players. We all know he has a great eye for talent so look for them to be a great punting team in two or three years.

You are right, Wanny did not recruit any of these guys, but many preseason rankings had Pitt as a Top 20 team.....Wanny ruins everything he touches.

From his standpoint he does not have enough talent to win. What can a coach do without talent ? Punt ?.Its no sin

I feel really bad wishing misfortune on anyone...but I think Pornstache might deserve it. He has the most unimaginative coaching philosophy in the history of organized sports. I guess Pitt is finding that out now.

Wanny was never a good teacher, motivator, or evaluator of talent. He was, however, generally considered a nice guy. I'm not quite sure what that qualifies him to do, but I'm sure everyone will like him, wherever he goes after is is fired at Pitt.

Oh I forgot, was also never good at the x's and o's, play calling, game day decison making... am i leaving anything out?

To be for real though Pitt was way over rated. They got ranked that high in preseason because of the fact that they won there division even though other teams had better records. I think they got lucky beat BC in the conference championship so it boosted them into a bowl game even though they had like 4 loses then If I remember correctly they got killed in that bowl game. I think the preseason rankings are a joke to begin with it just goes by the previous year and recruiting it doesnt really mean much.

Did you see the CBS highlights when Pitt missed the FG at the very end and Wanny walked to midfield I guess to shake hands with Calahan? Classic clueless look for Dave! LOL

That's very true. Pitt was floundering last year and there was plenty of heat on the coach. Then they revived and were extremely lucky when Syracuse went into Boston College as a huge underdog and won big. That's what put Pitt in the BCS bowl, which they lost handily to Utah. To show how low Pitt was rated even last year, they were a massive double digit underdog to Utah in that game, extremely rare for a major conference team to be that big of an underdog especially to a Mountain West team. I don't know of a single Las Vegas oddsmaker who had Pitt among his top 25 in preseason power rankings this year.

i bet is punter goes in the 1st round next year. He'll have more experience than anyone in college football.

This just proves how BAD a coach Wannstadt really is. Pitt supposedly had the best recruiting class it has had since the 70's, they returned 8 starters on offense and 6 on defense and have a tough QB that threw for over 3000 yards last season. They finished last year 8-4 and are last years Big East Conference Champs.

Going 0-3 so far this season (with a team like this) shows us all that Wannstadt really is a terrible coach!!!

The problems with Pitt are correctable. Some of the problems are mental and some are physical. They have a week to straight these problems out. :goof:

Unfortunately Pitt probably isn't going to see 0-4, because I even think Wanny can't screw up next week verse Youngstown State.
