Wanny's worst call

Cutting Mike Westoff in favor of one of his boys. Our special teams have been down ever since.

Even though Wes Welker was a bright spot last year.

Mine is Wanny passing on 3 strait plays at the end of the NE game with 1 min left wen ricky had ran for 180 yards
I'll second that series for the "beginning of the end". I have never in my life been so shocked, perplexed and just plain dumbfounded as I watched that series unfold and the game go down the toilet, as well as the season.

As bad or worse was firing Bordeaux in favor of Wise. And the rest as they say, is history.(line coach)

I also remember a monsoon game where fielder got hurt, and got Wanny to put him back in... you guessed it, we lost.

Strange thing, I seem to remember that Fielder was playing pretty good that year before the hip injury.

100% no doubt keeping Jay Fiedler as long as he did. We had 2 years, with teams that were 10-6 that would have been 12-14 wins in those years with a QB. And as bad as I hate to say it, that was 1 thing Ricky Williams even knew, and I think helped frustrate him.

yes ...by far it was the patriots game , so stupid , u use ricky all season and in the most crucial moment u pass pass pass ???? after he destroyed again the pats front 4 ???, give credit to norv turner also on that one :fire: !!!!!! . glad both are gone ....feel sorry for ricky and boston ...hopefully saban can use them for good .

How about the time he didn't think that Olindo Mare should practice kicking off the dirt infield before the Patriots game that they eventually lost in OT because Mare missed TWO kicks off the dirt.

The era of ineptitude is over and it feels like a distant memory.

Getting rid of Griese instead of Fiedler.

Totally agree! Could've gotten a 7th rounder for Fiedler at that time and now Dumbo's flying with the Jets. He and a lotta fans gave up on Griese too quickly and now Tampa's reaping the benefits. Wanny is good at getting quality FA's and trades though IMO like Seau, Knight, Griese, Ricky Williams and you can't really blame him for not predicting that. Guess I was wrong there.

Yes. Lack of QB and decisive coaching frustrated him I bet.

I agree, Griese got the shaft just like A.J. did last year.

Since we have a Worst Fiedler play i have started a worst wanny call thread. I wanted to see what people thought was the worst coaching gaf he made in his painful tenure as the fins coach. I am talking a decision in a game not a roster move so the ricky trade does not count but u can mention a trade as an addition.

For all of you who wnat to grill Wanny for that NE game, the Pats D dictated Miami had to throw the ball. They had 9 guys in the box. Don't blame Wanny, blame the offense who failed to execute in what should have been an easy passing situation.

My worst Wanny call was right before halftime of the Buffalo game Ricky's first year. He has Lucas run a crazy pass play instead of running the clock out and fumbles which leads to Buffalo getting back in the game. That's coaching though. If the player executes he's a genius. If the player doesn't execute you look like a dumb ***.
