Was Jon Gruden Fishing For The Dolphins HC Job?

I dont mind who is our head coach, as long as we win games.............

Towards the beginning of the broadcast he said something along the lines of, "I want to see this stadium full of Miami fans" like back in the good old days. i dont recall the exact phrasing but it sounded odd coming from an impartial announcer.

And then Jaws made his usual anti-Dolphin retort. Something to the effect of "Well John, they have to win first."

He's not wrong for saying that. Winning brings the fans in more than anything else. No Orange Carpet, celebrity owners, Club Liv, or any of that stuff can subsititute for winning ball games.

gruden wants to coach manning under his final contract.

im sure he loves manning. but seriously? manning certainly isnt mobile. and gruden likes/needs mobile quarterbacks for his offense. is he going to scrap the west coast for manning?

where is ur link? im sure he has a serious respect for manning, but i dispute the validity of ur statement

I like Gruden's fire too. But Gruden, like Cowher, has won a SB. No SB winning coach has ever won another SB with a different team. I would much rather have Fisher. I think he still has something to prove and is just as good as Gruden/Cowher.

Not a fan of Fisher at all. I have no prb if this team hired either one of those guys. All I have to say is that there is a 1st time for everything as far a coach winning a super bowl with another team. It's gonna happen sooner or later.

I am a 40 year Dol-fan who for the last 7 years has lived in Tampa. Got a lot of inside scoop on Gruden's time here. I think he is a very good coach. There is at least a concern for his talent evaluation if he was truly involved in that aspect. There was also a GM and a cheap ownership in Tampa as well as a completely disfunctional management team in Oakland with Al Davis. When I look at a coach I look at game plans, play books, and player preparedness both physical and mental. Gruden did very well at those tasks. I would love to see him coach Miami, but only with a really good GM and the financial support of the ownership group. By the way, the Dolphins draft record for the last 10 or 15 years isn't exactly sterling.

Gruden won a super bowl with Dungy's team. What a great resume my friend. What did he ever do with the offense and the qb situation in Tampa? Nothing! I would rather not want someone like this who is demanding a figure over 2 million to 10 million a year.

Dungy could't get the job done there and all Gruden did was finish the job. He is a very good coach imo and would make a great addition if he is named head coach by Ross. Even thou this team has played one game this yr, I am already sick and tired of Sparano and his excuses.

If you think Gruden is some sort of answer than you are fooling yourself. Yes he won a Super Bowl, but let's be honest that was with the team Dungy built. His teams got worse over time, never developed a QB and was hated by his players and lost the locker room. He would not be a good fit in Miami imo. Though his hiring would bring some false optimism initially and they could sell Dolphins chucky dolls. Other than that, I would rather Cowher, the guy who took 15 years to win a Super Bowl if Sparano is let go.

wheres ur proof? lets over-look the facts and try to spin it. and he didnt develop a quarterback? rich gannon was a journeyman until gruden got ahold of him. jon gruden helped him become an nfl mvp. so ur case against is so garbage. not to mention brad johnsons level of performance in the playoffs that year. nevermind the fact he took one team to the brink of the superbowl and ANOTHER to a superbowl victory. and how many draft picks did tampa give up to get him? 2 1st 2 2nd? thats a ridiculous price. yet it paid off. all u gruden haters just love to ignore the facts. the pictures pretty obvious. and the book on gruden has already been written. hes a great head coach. im not going to say u shouldnt have positive thoughts on cowher. but gruden brings more to the table. and the argument is solidified by his success with 2 separate teams. bill cowher preyed on the weakest division in football for years and never got it done. stuck with scrubs at qb, and never won the big one till he had a franchise qb under center. gruden took one journeyman and turned him into one of the best qbs in the game and took another journeyman to a superbowl title. not to mention the qbs gruden has coached in the past. its not close. its such a joke. and u gruden hater have NOTHING to back up ur beliefs

Gruden would be a great coach for the Fins IMHO. The problem is how would Nolan take the hiring. He may think of himself as the heir apparent if Sparano gets canned. Keeping Nolan is huge because we would likely have to change to another system with another coach. I hope this staff gets to 10 wins and they can get a few more pieces in the next draft. A stud DB, stud pass rushing LB, stud big RB, and RT and RG.
We are getting closer, just a couple more parts are needed.
