Watching A Recorded Game?

nope...it's usually i start it on delay...ie game at 1pm dvr records it i start watching at 3pm...night game i'm like 30 minutes behind live so i can buzz thru commercials etc...

doesnt matter what sport it is...avoid my phone avoid the tv etc til i watch...works like a charm...its why i get off here oncce the game starts on game days cause i dont want to know anything

I do the same as you and awsi, only I probably take it a step further and usually always record two or even three games at the same time and watch a quarter of each being careful not to check the ticker at the bottom.

The benefits of this are huge, especially for football. If a team has a lead and is trying to milk the clock you can skip ahead 30 seconds every play. Some teams you can peg at just being slow and you can safely skip ahead for them every play, and in my experience that is typically a knock against the coaching staff. The Dolphins don't have that problem and we're generally relatively quick to snap the ball. Also, sometimes if it looks like a team has an insurmountable lead I'll just fast forward to the end just to make sure I don't miss a miraculous comeback. Sadly I've even done this for a Dolphin game or two.

I watch 'em when they happen. Commercials are awesome - perfect opportunities to void used beer from the 'ol bladder.

If I can't watch it live, my iPhone is glued to my hand.

I like to watch Dolphin or UM games live. The commercial breaks are a good time to go get a beer or take a piss. Lately i been watching at a friends house who always has the games on delay to skip commercials but I can not resist sneaking into another room to see what the real time score is :)
Any other teams playing delay is fine but not my teams.

Just saw your post Bump. Great minds ... :brewskis:

I come up with any excuse to get me out of work or family **** in order not to miss a dolphins game. Close to a 15 year streak not missing a game

I seem to remember a poster that wanted to move his own wedding for a game last year. His wife and inlaws weren't happy...

I saw a commercial on the World Cup, with a guy having the match recorded, and he avoids all talk at work, driving home avoids talk at the toll booth, takes out his car radio, gets home and tells his neighbor not to talk. Finally, walks into his house, and his little daughter comes running to him screaming "Daddy, Daddy, WE WON!!!" He was devastated. lol

Years ago, had to work a Sunday when Miami was playing. Told the guys on the job that if anyone told me what happened in the game, they would be fired, went out the back to avoid people, and finally got home knowing nothing. The wife greeted me with "Great win, you must be so happy, and can't wait to watch it.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else?

Used to have a guy at work that was not really much of a fan but would watch the odd game. So when we were on Monday night as we often were back then with Marino, the guy would say something that he thought would not give it away like, "You'll enjoy the game when you watch it.", or, "Man you must be disappointed". Ugh! He wasn't a prick, just not very bright so it was hard to stay mad at him. But I did after a few times!

I can't watch live games anymore, my heart can't take it. I watch all Dolphin games recorded and only the wins.

Well I don't feel so bad now. Seems a lot wish not to watch games live. I have a totally different reason and many may not understand, but I tivo the game, pause it and watch the results of each play on NFL Network play by play (where they print out what happens on each play) until we get the lead. I can't watch it live without getting upset when things go wrong. I can watch the printed version of the play and for some reason that doesn't bother me like watching a big play by the other team live. Once I have read it I can fast forward over it and not have to watch it if things to wrong. This way I can enjoy the good plays and avoid the bad plays. If we go behind by more than one score I usually stop watching even the NFL Network until after the game is over and I can see the final score. If we came back I can enjoy watching the comeback and if not I can wait until the next day when I have had time to process it.

It often takes several days before I can watch a loss. I have to watch them but only after I have had time to realize that the loss didn't stop the world. Coming back here to finheaven really helps. Hearing other people over react worse than I am helps with perspective. I have found it is just too expensive to keep replacing remotes and other throwable objects to watch games live. I rarely watch games with others any more, to avoid them leaving thinking I have Tourette syndrome.

Damn k town that is serious..
Seems we have at least 6 games a year that really come down to the end
This last year the pitt game and last pats game show me why you guys do this.. It takes a toll on the ticker.
Still have to watch live..

I skipped turkey day dinner in 06 to watch the fins and lions and the same for the last time we played the cowboys. My mother and wife were not happy. Dedicated
I was at that turkey day game in Detroit. I call it the Marty booker game

I record every game to re-watch the OL, etc. I also use the pause button on commercials for food, getting and getting rid of beer, and reading/posting on the forum while not missing anything. It works out well

i usually have a group of friends over to my house for the games, so there is no way i'd be able to get a consensus about watching the game on delay. when 1pm rolls around and it's kickoff time, everybody wants to be watching live. i wouldn't mind having a few minutes of buffer, to zoom through the commercials, but i am also not in a hurry to get through with a dolphins game either. if it takes a full three and a half hours, so be it. we all live for that. and win or lose, pain to the chest or not, i am there every play, every game, every year.

Not being able to chat with other fans during the game is definitely one of the negatives, I turn off my computer most Sunday's. But... reading the game day thread after the game, especially after a win is pure gold. Especially the times Tannehill or the team starts out slow but ends up having a good game. Gold, Jerry!! GOLD!!!!

This is why I try to balance it out with the pause button. With all the commercial breaks, I get to read/post in close to real time while not missing anything. Give it a try.
