We are who I thought we were about a .500 team

Its really a shame that we completely blew 3 games we should have won with relative ease against the Bills, Pats and Bucs. We should be right in this thing for the division and in the drivers seat for the 6 seed. The only game where we were straight up beat was the Saints game, whereas the Jets get dominated every other week.
I dunno, it seems to be this way damn near every year but two or three plays in big spots that we couldn't make are probably going to keep us out of the playoffs. Hopefully we can go 4-2 in our last 6 and take the 6 seed, we shouldn't be in this position, but in typically Miami Dolphins fashion we backed ourselves into a corner. Lame.

I can see us going 9-7...beat Jets twice, do what we should have done against Buffalo in the first meeting and take 1 against either Carolina or Pittsburgh...we can beat NE but I'll count that one as a loss

This a below .500 team we have here, unfortunately.

Yes we have a few bright spots; Grimes, Clay, Gibby (terrible loss), Fields, Patterson (if he could only stay healthy) ... that's really about it IMHO. Every other position is under performing, inconsistent or just plain sucks.

Some of you guys might see some progress, and I'm not going to argue because there really is no point, but I see a team that over all has taken a step or two backwards, and frankly, going into the season I thought we were going to be much better.

With that said, I don't blame the players (except for Rat Fink), although they threw in the towel last week - but at least they had a rebound this week. This is a GM and coaching issue and we will be a sub par team until something changes in those areas.

I agree. While there have been some bright spots as stated above, overall this team has regressed... and not just a little! Too many sacks given up, o-line worse than last year (even before the injuries and "drama"), running game no longer consistent, rushing defense no longer reliable, not enough 3rd down conversions on offense and too many given up on defense (especially 3rd and long), and so on. What's up on defense? Are Ellerbee and Wheeler a downgrade from Burnett and Dansby, or is it the playcalling? No critical upgrades to the o-line, and McKinnie was only signed due to pressure from Ross at their meeting. Ireland moved up to the #3 spot for a part-time pass rusher, and besides Sturgis, every other draft pick this year is a project, injured, or both. In hindsight, the only upgrades added to the team this off-season were Grimes and Gibson (can't count Keller due to injury). That's not a very good job by Ireland, and I'm already on record as saying that Miami needs a new coaching staff.

This was the year to show improvement, but for every step forward they take two steps backward.
