No way in hell ANY team would pull another Ditka type move. Trade your whole draft to get one guy? Never again. Too many #1 QB's have flamed out to make that kind of move. And look at the trouble Matty Ice and the falcons are having to start the season. One Mike Vick concussion away from being 0-3 themselves. They are having o line problems, and what do you know....their record shows it. Weather you guys want to admit it or not it is a TEAM game. Luck may be the real deal, and he may have "it", but there enough QB's coming out this year that any team that has that #1 pick might have a hard time trying to rape some other team in order to trade down.

It is a team game, you are absolutely right. But can you really pass on the chance to get a player like Andrew Luck? Absolutely not. You can say it's a team game all you want but all you need to do is watch the Colts this year without Peyton Manning. That's the kind of player Luck will be. He will be able to make a team that much better. The Colts with Manning compete for Super Bowls every single year. Without him? They are probably the worst team in the league.

Our only hope would be trading up, the Colts would take him if they are #1 and cant trade out. They do not know if Manning will ever be the same, and they can not risk passing up on a talent like Luck. They would honestly be STUPID to pass on him, w/o being 100% sure Manning is 100%. Even with Manning being good, they should still take him because he is older and will not last 5+ years like they want. He can groom the rookie ala Favre and Rodgers. They would be paying w/e rookie they take #1 overall money anyways so why not pay that to your future FRANCHISE QB...Doesnt hurt to have 2 franchise QBs on your team...Manning wont be making the decision on who they draft, so if they feel they need a back up plan for Manning then they will take Luck.

But again, NOT ONE SINGLE TEAM IN THE HISTORY OF THE NFL (note: this *does* include all history, even recent) HAS EVER DONE A TRADE FOR 3 1ST ROUNDERS, at least as far as I can recall.

You seem to think this kid is much more worthy than any other in NFL history. Be my guest. I won't bet against a team being that stupid - I've learned to never bet against stupidity - but I'm pretty sure most GMs aren't as clueless as to pull that trade. And again, Luck is getting to the point of being overhyped. Michael Vick was an annointed HOF before he exited highschool, and he hasn't won a single championship. Hell, his team is 1-2.

The value of quarterbacks is going up all the time. They've never been more directly linked to wins and losses than they are now. Plus, with a rookie cap in place, draft picks have also never been more valuable. And into those upward trend comes Andrew Luck, the best and lowest risk pro-style passer since Peyton Manning.

The notion that no one's traded three first rounders for a player before (edit: this is untrue, the Herschel Walker trade was highly complicated and included a lot of players but Dallas was entitled to three first rounders, two of them conditional) doesn't mean very much, given those variables. In a league where you can have a pretty talented team and go nowhere without an elite quarterback, having that elite quarterback means everything. Therefore, you must be prepared to give up something that approaches everything.

That's my point man. You don't need a good team if you have a player who is that special. The Colts aren't good now because Peyton Manning is sitting on the sidelines.

The Pats did well when Brady went down because they have Bill Belichick. They had a decent back up and the best coach of all-time. They also played the same schedule we did that year and it was a breeze. They also didn't make the playoffs.

It's way to early in the season to even project where the Dolphins are going to draft and any team without a surefire franchise guy for the next 5 years would take him.

Here are the current bottom 15 teams.

Aside from the Falcons, Eagles and Panthers, every team on the list would consider drafting Luck. Doesn't matter who they drafted last year, do you pass up on drafting Manning or Marino 2.0?

There is simply no way whatsoever Luck isn't going 1st overall. If the team picking 1st doesn't draft him, they will trade the pick for a king's ransom.

Pretty sure the Colts have a clause in Manning's contract where they can release him without being on the hook for his contract. The Vikings could pass on Luck, but it's just as likely they'd draft him since Ponder isn't 1/10 the prospect Luck is, and then trade Ponder.
