I can not believe this thread. The one kick I would criticize him for missing is the short field goal Thursday night against the Bengals and maybe the one against Buffalo, but that one was over 50 yards. He is "credited" with missing two field goals against New England, but one of them was blocked because the whole right side of the line caved in so that was clearly not his fault. The second one he missed that day hit the upright from I believe it was 48 yards. It was a tough wind that day and he just didn't play it right. He also made a 50 plus yard field goal that day in a tough wind. The first field goal he missed all season was a 57 yard game winning attempt against Baltimore. People act like that was a gimme. So to sum it up, I think one kick he flat out blew (Bengals), one he probably should have made (Buffalo) and three that were either not his fault or just really tough kicks. I really like the kid and I think that he has ice water in his veins. I think it would be nuts to give up on him now. People forget how unreliable Dan Carpenter had become, not to mention how expensive he was. If this team was a Super Bowl contender maybe I would consider looking at other kickers, but I doubt it. Besides, who is out there right now that you would rather have? This team has way bigger issues than who the kicker is. Let the season play out so we can see if he can handle pressure kicks before we throw him to the curb.
