We need to go 3-1 in last 4 to make playoffs

You mean we need to go 4-0 and hope the Ravens go 3-1. Give me a break dude. Didn't the Ravens win the Super bowl last year? You expect them to finish out the year knowing the playoffs are on the line going 2-2?

The Ravens are 28th in Rushing Yards, they're dead last in avg yard per rush @ 2.9 per carry.
Ray Rice is averaging under 3 ypc.

In 2012 the Ravens ranked 11th & 12th in above mentioned categories.
Ray Rice had 700 more yards and averaged 4.4 ypc.

Across the board, this year they have not looked like the same team.

They're 4th overall in sacks allowed @ 39, only 6 behind Miami's 45.

Doesn't mean they can't make a run, obviously they know what it takes to get there. But I just don't see an easy road by any means.

2-2 is not absurd. They have a tough schedule.
First up the Vikes, then tough games vs Lions, Pats and Bengals.

Winning 7 of those 9 games by 10 points or less. If the Dolphins would have pulled out just two of the close games that they lost they would be 8-4 and playing for he Division. So tell me again how are the Patriots unbeatable?

Yeah, the difference is that the Patriots win most of their close games...and we don't. That's what great teams do. Nobody said they were unbeatable.

I haven't heard any news on Patterson, but the Dolphins could really use him in this game.

I hope I don't here any news about Patterson until he is really ready to play in the game. He'd be healthy by now if not for the constant attempts to get back on the field. It would be great if he were back, but I don't want the team to force it.

He probably WILL not be completely healthy until next year. Which puts some pressure on whoever the GM to make a decision on whether to offer him a contract.

Great teams do win close games but they also handily beat lesser teams. The Patriots have only handily beat 2 teams this year. The Patriots are an above average team that has the benefit of a very good home field advantage. I would not call them a great team. There is no doubt in my mind that if they would have played the Saints in New Orleans or Broncos in Denver they lose those games and they probably wouldn't have been close.

This year I do not see any great teams in the league. The closest thing to a great team is probably the Seahawks and they are not really a scary team. There are no more Early '70s Dolphins, Mid to late '70s Steelers, 80's 49ers or Redskins, or '90s Cowboys. Not even any teams on the level of the Late '90s early '00s Rams. Now you have a bunch of average teams. with some being slightly more consistent than others.

Like you said though they have won most of their close games while the Dolphins have lost theirs.

Dude that Patriots have won at least 9 games for 13 straight years.....They are great until further notice

How many Superbowls have they won since '05? How many playoff games have they won since then. Playing in a weak division and a conference that has been pretty weak in recent history doesn't make a team great. Wake me up when they win another Superbowl. Their QB, the one that keeps them in contention every year, will be 37 by the start of next season. We'll see how much longer they keep winning more than 9 games a year.

They have consistently been one of the best teams in the nfl for a decade and a half and going to 5 super bowls in that time. Quite possibly the best stretch of football by any team in NFL history.....if that's not great to you then I don't know what to tell you.

I know. That's what I thought, but pouncey's answer suggests otherwise. Maybe Baltimore wins division if they win out and Cincinnati drops to wc? That's the only explanation I can think of.

If the Dolphins play 4 whole quarters of good football they can beat any of these teams.

Miami's problem is that they can't play well for 60 minutes. This is why they lost to NE, Buffalo, Baltimore, TB, and Carolina. What's baffling is that Miami completely dominated two contenders (NE and Carolina) in the first half, but played dead in the second half. IMO, this just means that they have the talent on the field to beat anyone, but need better coaching.

It's likely going to come down to having to win 1 more game than the Ravens. If they go 2-2 we have to go 3-1. If they go 3-1 we have to go 4-0. If there is a three way tie for the sixth seed we may be able to get in with the same record as the Ravens but I don't think that is very likely.

It's looking like we'll be 7-7 with two games to go. All those close losses really hurt right now, especially Baltimore and Barfalo.

Really need to beat Pittsburgh next week. We owe them for that screw job a few years ago.

If we win 3 out of our last 4 games we have a good shot at making the playoffs. If the Ravens go 2-2 and we go 3-1 then we are in. I can see the ravens losing at Detroit and against cincinatti so if we handle our business we should make the playoffs.

Forget 3-1, we need to go 1-0 next week. We do that, then we'll talk about the week after, you're getting WAAAAAY ahead of yourself.
