We picked up another CB! (merged)

Eiland has played at corner in camp.

OK makes sense. Counting Deandre Eiland and Kris Richard, that gives us 8 healthy DB's - five of which will make the team. We definitely needed to pick up another DB to increase the competition.

BTW any news on Eiland? From what I read he was a former state champion in the 110m hurdles.

Hey guys. Seahawk fan here. Just wanted to chime in and give y'all a bit of background info as it seems that you don't know much about your new player. This truely was a nothing-nothing deal for both teams.

Richard (pronounced "ri-shard") ain't that great. As a Seahawk fan I was happy to see he was traded. A total reach as a 3rd round pick. Should've been a 5th or 6th at the time. That's why Holmgren ain't GM anymore. Mueller was long gone by that time, so no he doesn't have any connections or inside info on the guy. Hawks didn't trade him for cap reasons, the saved cap space is a bonus as Kris likely would've been cut. As a Seahawk fan I was happy when I saw about the trade solely because Richard isn't on our team anymore. I doubt Flemons even makes the team.

And yes, you guys have taken on probably 3 of the crappier Seahawks from last year. Richard is decent at best, ok if he's your 5th cb, but if he sees the field often, yikes. But both Donnie Jones and Heath Evans are terrible. Jones was the worst punter I've seen in a long time last year. He has the talent, but it never once showed. He has multiple 20 yard punts, some even worse. And Heath Evans is one of the more hated Seahawks of recent memory. #1 most booed Hawk over the past few years. What a bum. I hope for your sake Jones and Evans don't make your team and that Richard isn't one of your cb's that sees the field much. Have fun with 'em. I'm glad to see them gone.

Good luck this season.

How's your rb situation looking with Brown and Ricky? Just curious from a fantasy standpoint. Thanks.

I am sorry but that is just plain wrong. Berreara was much more hated than Heath Evans. Darrell Jackson has been booed much more than Heath Evans. Heck even the great tight end was booed more than Heath Evans. Heath Evans hasn't really done anything to be hated up here. Heck I have been to a few Seahawk game, I have yet hear anyone boo Evans.

SeaTown, thanks for a Hawks fan point of view. I used to be a big Steve Largent fan.

Ricky looks excellent, albeit small, in training camp. But is listed as the 4th RB on the depth chart. Watch the game on MNF, you should get to see him carry 5 times or so. I predict he'll be a beast, but who would pick up a fantasy back with 4 games suspended?

As for Brown, who knows? He isn't in camp, and doesn't seem to be getting here anytime soon.

Question for you - what's the problem with Heath Evans. I've only heard decent things about him so far...

What are you talking about Dol-fan? I am a season ticket holder and I have much experience on this topic. Heath Evans by far topped the cake in terms of boos. I can't remember how many times he'd come into a game, miss a block, get Hass decked, and then drop a pass. Fans didn't like him at all. DJack drops a lot of passes and has led to some boos, but they are never directed solely at him, but the offense in general for not being able to sustain a drive. Evans on the other hand was a one man wrecking crew in that regard. He was viewed by fans as Shaun Alexander's lap dog as he followed Shaun everywhere. It was even a running joke that Heath had compromising pictures of Holmgren and that's how he was keeping he place on the team.

In all seriousness though, the reason for both Evans and Richard being on the team the past few years had nothing to do with their play (or lack there of), but moreso that they were terrible picks by Holmgren himself back when he was GM. Both were 3rd round picks if I'm not mistaken and both ended up being horrible selections by Holmgren in retrospect. Mike has proven to be a bit stubborn in giving up on guys he chose (ie - Koren Robinson). Once you give up on a guy, it's an admission that you made a mistake, which can be hard to do. This trade with Richard was pretty savvy on Ruskell's part for the Hawks IMO. There are a couple of young guys that were pushing Richard down the depth charts and possibly off the team. Had they released him he would've still counted againt the cap. But now the $750,000 or so he was slotted is freed up. Those are the kinda things that help out big time in today's salary cap NFL.

I guess I haven't met any of those Seahawk fans. I mostly see Mack Strong in the backfield to do most of the blocking. I always say Heath Evens as a talented player who is not a better football player at anything than Mack Strong. Plus no runningback got Hasslebeck killed more than Alexander. There is by far the worst runningback I have ever seen blocking in the backfield. I have seen times where he would of been better if he actually just stood there.

I totally agree with your second statement. Basically this was a back up trade for both teams. Seahawks are weak in back up defensive ends and Miami is weak on back up cornerback. Yet Miami is strong in defensive ends and Seahawks have plenty of cornerbacks.

Don't discount Flemmons too much, there is a good chance of him making the Seahawks if he shows good pass rushing ability. Without Winstrom the pass rush was non existant in Seattle

Greatwade,

In response to Heath, let's just say that he wore out his welcome. He was a high draft choice and was compared to Tom Rathman at the time. Not exactly. He was never able to win the starting spot from the very solid, but older Mack Strong, and the past few seasons he was in danger of losing his job to rookies. Had it not been for Chris Davis having season ending surgery last year, Heath probably wouldn't have made it through last year.

Evans on the field in his Seahawk days, didn't show much at all. Not the best blocker for a fb, more of a finesse back. And he didn't show anything from a rushing/receiving standpoint either. He had more than his fare share of drive ending drops in the back field that make you want to puke. And he didn't even see the field that much.

Maybe he needs a change of scenery. He never seemed too motivated during his time here. Some players need to change teams before they realize that they need to get with it.

What's your guys fb situation? I can't remember who started for you last year. I sure hope Heath isn't projected to start.

Good points dol-fan. You are right on about Seattle's lack of pass rush and Alexander's inability to block. Both things that have eaten at me for years.

I watch every football game in a bar with my best friend who is a seahawk fan. I have watched a lot of Seahawks.

I don't think Miami is really going to be total fullback type of fullback if that made any sense. Evans would be more of an H-Back type of player I believe. It is hard to tell because no one has ever really said for sure.
