We signed a guard- Jeff Linkenbach

Dolphins signed G/T Jeff Linkenbach, formerly of the Chiefs.

Team: Miami Dolphins
Age / DOB: (27) / 6/9/1987
Ht / Wt: 6'6' / 325
College: Cincinnati

Linkenbach can play both guard spots and right tackle in a pinch. He has 36 career starts under his belt with most of those coming with the Colts from 2010-2013. In Miami, he's unlikely to start, even with Miami's desperate need for guards. Apr 22 - 2:33 PM

I believe he started 3 games for the Chiefs last year. He's started for the Colts in the past

Well we sign another backup at a position hopefully we find a starter in draft but seems doubtful since draft is not strong at guard

not bad only 27 seems versitle hopefully that takes us out of drafting a guard in the first 2 days.

signing a roster bottom dweller on a minimum contract at any position is highly unlikely to ever change your plans for the first two rounds.

Fair point on who we may or may not draft, but Scheme and fit can play a role in the success of these types of signings. Evan Mathis was a roster bottom dweller when the Eagles signed him and there some who would say he's been one of the best guards in the NFL the last 5 years.

more info on the guy:

Linkenbach made eight starts in 2012, four at left guard and four at right tackle. After he struggled mightily as both a pass and run blocker, it was surprising the Colts gave Linkenbach a restricted tender at all. The Colts will bring back 6-foot-6, 311-pound Linkenbach as a swing backup.

Linkenbach is capable of playing both guard and tackle, but has consistently struggled when inserted into the starting lineup. The Colts have to be hoping he doesn't approach the 12 starts he's averaged the past two seasons in 2013.

true, very true but for every Evan Mathis there are about 2000 Tevin Mims's
