Weaver's plan at CB

I was at the Miami versus Raiders game where Ramsey's late interception sealed the win for the Dolphins. That's how I will remember him.

Not happy with his attitude, but time to move on. Give young players a shot.
Well, he made it time to move on after the team stupidly gave him a big extension. Clearly, caught them off guard after they already said goodbye to Fuller. I'm not going to remember him for the Raiders game. He has big game against a sorry azz team. Big deal. I'm going to remember him for talking a big game and wanting out after two years after making tons money. Good riddance! And I'm not giving Grier a pass either. This is his freaking show.

Weaver is good and will adjust the schemes to his players, he did it very well last year, he may be the best coach we have. I think the defense will be just fine this year.

We were 5th best scoring defense...what matters more? Sacks and turnovers, or points given up?
Where are you seeing they were top 5 in scoring defense? They were 10th. Very good, but not top 5.

And even then they gave up 25 or more points in 8 games. The 49ers defense, who gave up the 4th most points on the season, averaged giving up 25 PPG.

I’m hoping that McD evolves and shows us that he is the coach we want him to be. But if a change is made, Jon Gruden would be very interesting. He obviously has a chip on his shoulder and something to prove. He’s old school, but also a character. I think he might look ok in capris. 🤣
I've always loved his intensity.

Points given up of coarse. But is that sustainable without sacks and turnovers? I believe we had the weakest SOS last yr so is that even impressive? IDK i obviously could be wrong and he may very well be great. I just don’t see anything pointing to that.

I wouldn't say the D was great, but just looking at Miami's losses. Miami lost 6 with TT active. The D held Buf below their avg twice, and HOU once and 3 of those pts were a FG after the D allowed *0* yards which would have kept HOU below avg. They held SEA within 2 of their avg, ARI 2, GB 4. Not bad for a D with all the injuries.
No, they weren't great and tackling was concerning. But, overall, the D wasn't as bad as some claim.
With one more above avg CB and a renewed pass rush, I don't expect a bad D in '25.

Dumb

I'm curious, Phillips coming off an Achilles and a torn up knee. Chubb basically lost his entire knee. What makes you and the ones confident their presence is going to have a big impact again on the line think that??

Legitimate question man, not trying to start shisht.
This is 100 percent a legitimate question. I think it's why Chop Robinson was the number one pick two years ago.

I wasn't disappointed in Miami's draft this year, but I really would have emphasized the pass rush. Hopefully, Phillips and Chubb can come back strong. But I doubt either is a long-term Dolphins.

I think next year we will take a DE and another OL. We can’t fix everything in 1 offseason/draft. But I do like that we will build the core of the team via draft rather than Free Agency.

Yeah they played against the worst schedule in the league while facing some below average offenses. They weren't great but not terrible either. We'll see what Weaver can do in 2025 with hopefully a healthier and more talented D-line and pass rush.

What was Chubb’s injury? Wasn’t it a torn ACL? Was worse than that?

Why would anyone have any faith in Weaver as a HC? We were a bottom 5 team in both sacks and turnovers last yr all while playing the weakest SOS. Didn’t ARod have his best 2 games of the season against this weaver D?
Context matters
Agreed. Weaver is just another nobody as far as Head Coaching is concerned. If and when Fins jettison McMoron, I do not want Weaver as HC. It will be the same learning curve all over again. I want someone that has had success as a Head coach, be it from a big college program or from the NFL.

True. There is no way of knowing if either one of them will ever be what they once were, or how long it will take to at least be close to their best. Both injuries were serious and there are no guarantees on how their bodies will respond or if they will have setbacks. They are just two more question marks on a team that is loaded with question marks on both sides of the ball and on the coaching staff. This is truly a season built on Hopium!
