Week 1 - PFF After Action Report - Jaguars vs. Dolphins

I said this in another thread.

It isn't just that he was ABLE to. It's that he did it. We have not seen this as one of Tua's strengths, or our OL.

I think people underestimate how valuable this is.

Last year, we got clobbered when the D took away our first read. It would usually result in a sack, or Tua making a mistake. I think this was the greatest factor in our demise in the second half of the season.

In this game -- our o-line gave Tua time, and he clearly went through progressions without getting flustered.
It’s one game but you’re right, that space in between 1st and 2nd looked different from the line, and Tua and that space was my biggest worry this off-season

Rams have one guy suspended and a few others injured last night. Yet they managed to game plan around it pretty decently, especially since they were going against a beast of a player in that Lion DE.
And that guy couldn’t even get a hand on Hutchinson

I don’t always know how to interpret PFF but I watched the game yesterday thinking our TEs were unmitigated disasters as a unit and apparently PFF agrees.

I think most hoped that he’d be back in a position to be successful after he played like a terrible fit under Fangio. Yesterday wasn’t a great start down that path.
Are we sure he didn’t do good in the slot ?
I saw him in the perimeter where he shouldn’t be

Then yes you do know how to interpret!!

They usually follow the eye test, but there are outliers. It is by no means the end all be all. When it comes down to really getting into a numbers discussion, there are a few sites to check, PFF, PFR, Next Gen are the first. After that for more nuanced stuff like shadow rates and other measurables, there are other good sites. Or just copy and paste what @NBP81 says. 😂

Good lord w the penalties and lining up offsides, false starts and dropped passes. The TE coach must have been in facepalm 🤦 mode all day

I also saw him on the outside at times, but I wasn’t sure if he started the play on the outside or trailed his man. Haven’t watched a replay yet.

Eichenberg grading higher than Tua gives me a chuckle. In any event, I’m not an Eichenberg fan, so any game where he doesn’t make me want to vomit counts as a good game.

That depends on what your "vomit threshold is. - LOL

Saw that. It was interesting.

You think it was McD sending a message to Smith and Smythe?

"If you guys can't execute, we will see what Hill can do"?

I mean, they really were not good in the opportunities they had.
I don't think McDaniel is a "send messages" kind of coach. I think he genuinely felt that Hill was the best TE yesterday and should be on the field over the other two.
