I do wonder how Shula might have fared, in his prime of coaching, during the salary cap era?

Rumors were San Francisco and Dallas were spending three times what other teams were post salary cap. I've never been able to find the team salaries listed, but we know Joe Robbie was notoriously cheap.

Don't hope for Belichick to get more wins, putting him closer to Shula then he should.

Belichick and the Patriots are not very good at picking offensive players, they lucked out on Gronk with 2nd round pick, 41 players went before him.

Brady was picked as a possible backup. So as long as they don't draft in the top 5, their chance on hitting on a quality QB are not that good, unless teams in front of them fail to take any QB.

Keep in mind, the NFL expanded the regular season schedule to 16 in 78 (2 extra regular season games per year) and greatly expanded the playoffs.

I'm with you, but it's a tough call.

I never can root for those bums, but anything to mess up their chances from drafting a top tier QB would help keep their franchise in the dumpster for the forseeable future.
