Welker- Yes or No?

I am all for wes. I haven't seen a fin return game like that in....ever since i have been watching the fins. The whole reason i posted that was because of that idiot at yahoo sports

"Kicker Olindo Mare and punter Matt Turk are average, and the coverage units need to add speed. Returner Wesley Welker is a serviceable player, but Saban may turn to cornerback Travis Daniels to spark the return game. Like every other unit, this one is still being sorted out, and it will likely see massive personnel turnover the next two seasons as Saban retools every aspect of the team"
PREDICTION Miami goes 5-11, last place"

Are you kidding??? Did you look at the numbers you posted? He was right up there with Dante Hall and this kid was a ROOKIE. He is a stud returner and there is no question that he should be THE guy.

Wes Welker rocks. He's the best return man we've had for as long as I can remember. I don't see how this could even be an issue.

Plus his name has a catchy ring to it.

no way does saban risk players on special teams like JJ did, esp. one in an area so thin. and 5-11? yeah, I'll print that guys predictions off, just so I can wipe my butt with it. Nah forget that, his prediction isn't worthy of touching my poop, I'll go pick up some chihuahua poop with it.

I thought he was the best return man we've had in a few years..I liked him. How many years has the little engine that could been in the league?

I guess..But your prediction is way off I think. WE're gonna have at least 9 wins.

Wes was a rookie last year.

This guy from yahoo had no idea what he is talking about with Wes. ANYONE that watched this kid play knows he is an absolute stud returner. He was so consistant and such a big weapon for us. Without him I guarantee we would have had the first pick in the draft this year.

Hands down, Wes is the man. Any white dude with moves can be my return man.

wes will be back... you cant match up his stats to Dante Hall who is the best returner since Prime Time. Wes has the speed and vision that a returner needs and hell, if Mare nurses another injury... he can makes some kicks.

Wes f'ing rocks. He's my favorite guy on the team right now. Any player that can be THAT versatile gets the thumbs up from me! Hell, his kicking percentage is higher then Vinitarias :rofl3:

Plus the man just rules at returning the football. I don't know why people bust on him about speed so much. Wes has GREAT vision! He consistently puts up big numbers, I'm just so impressed with everything he's brought to our team.

What I really want is for the Pro Shop to start selling Welker jerseys already damnit!

it's funny, but of all the talk about Wes being a "great" return man, there is only one thing I know for an absolute certainty.....Wes Welker is a Fan Favorite!

you guys should go back and quickly glance at all the posts. It's great.

As for the poster's orginal question. I think he matches up very well with the top return guys. sort of.

there are 2 types of returners...burners and pure return guys. Welker is a pure return guy. He reminds me of Via Sikehema (sp?) the little dude years ago who was with Phily I believe. Neither was a burner but had a certain quickness to them and simply have a knack for returning. Some guys have it, some don't...I believe Welker does.

One interesting thing about Wes playing WR though. If he proves he can be a 5th WR he becomes even more valuable to the team. Now, if he can't and Saban decides he'll keep a player just for returns, then it could cost Travis Minor his job at RB since he's the only other player I believe listed for KRs.

Some of you may think that losing Minor is no big deal but he does a lot for the team as a backup rb and plays all over the place on ST. I also think cutting Minor is going to be tuff either way because I think Linehan feels he's a great fit for his offense. Never unerestemate a RB that is a great receiver out of the backfield and plays ST. Wow..I drifted again. I couldn't help it. Our RB depth is soo good for the 1st time since the early no..late 70s that I wanna keep all of them. Nearly every post I make I start thinking about what Linehan kept on Minny's O-roster last year and what'll be different , if anything for us.

Welker = Jim "Crash" Jensen? well maybe not yet...but I know hes lining up as WR and we just cut Bellamy....so maybe they think Welker can fill a role much like Stokley in Indy....now I know not yet Stokely and last I checked Mannings not in Aqua and Orange...(dam what a great thought) just give this guy more time and he WILL work his way into the linup any which way possible....so to answer this question....YES YES YES.

I don't see anyone on the roster capable of beating him out at this point...besides...he's very good at what he does...top speed or not.

wes gave us something as a KR/PR that we haven't had in years, hope, every single time he touched the ball, and he never muffed it either. He is the only person on this team besides Jason and Chris that I think is completely safe.

Welker is great and i am about to get a personalized jersey with his name, but in no way can he be compared to JT and Chris in terms of a roster spot....

Wes will be the KR this year, the only way is if someone else in camp is really explosive
