We're In Trouble...

After 2 preseason games with the team learning a new offensive and defensive scheme. It's way to early to sat how good this team will be or how bad.I don't think we are a superbowl or even a playoff team, but I do not think we are going to be as bad as you say.I'm sure at this time last year alot of Chargers fans were saying the same thing you are.As far as the Dolphins go,it drives me crazy if they lose no matter how good or bad they are.

First of all, let me first say that I LOVE the PHINS! I just love them and have done so since I was 6 years old! I'm not jumping off any bandwagon or any other ridiculous cliche that means that I'm going to root for another team or against my own team. Got that? Good.

However...

This team is in trouble. Pre-Season games don't tell you anything about the coaches ability to game plan because they don't do it. They DO tell you about your talent levels, however. And here's the facts:

1) Our #1's are no where near as talented as we think. Our offensive line provided slightly better pass protection but still can't run block a lick. That's talent on talent. Oh sure, we'll get SOME yardage on clever plays the coaches gameplan, but straight up talent on talent, we're pathetic. We may be the least talented team in the NFL. We definitely are the least talented Offensive Line and Secondary in the NFL. The #1 Defensive line ONLY got pressure off of 3-4 blitzes. Where was Jason Taylor on the 4-3's? Without pressure we're going nowhere.

2) We have the worst 2nd - 3rd teamers in the NFL. Our safeties, Tillman, Schulters, Bell, Bua... none of them can play a lick. We're going to be ranked 32 in pass defense this year. We have no quality depth anywhere.

3) What I've seen is that we have 2 QB's that both suck. One telegraphs his throws because he's so lost in the offense and the other knows the offense but doesn't have the ball skills to deliver the passes on time and on target.

Conclusion?

My offseason optimism is gone and I find myself agreeing with the pundits for the first time ever! We're gonna be bad and it's not going to be pretty. With the schedule that we face and the learning curve the players are facing and the age of the few decent players we have and the propensity for those guys to get hurt during the season and our terribl depth, 4-12 might be a lofty goal for us.

I know, I know... Now you hate me. You're going to insult me, call me names, point out all of the bright spots in these games like TE Diamond, etc.. and remind me that it's only pre-season, yada, yada, yada...

But I've been watching pre-season football for 35 years my friends...

We're in trouble.

Ricky provides a spark, but he won't be there until week 6 and even then, will he be mentally there by then?

We've overated BOOKER because the man has no speed. In this offense a pure possesion reciever can't do well. We need to trade him while the deadline is still open and pick up a servicable CENTER to replace McKinney, who is a baboon. We've got 4-3 linebackers that can be dealt, like Eddie Moore and Bua and Pope that have talent and ability but no longer fit this team's scheme. We need to pick up draft picks for next year and undure one of the toughest seasons in Dolphin's history.

We'll find out a lot more in pre-season game #4, but until then I'll leave you with one thought, those of you convinced that we're going to go 8-8 or 10-6 this year, on pure talent which Dolphins scare opposing teams?

Jason Taylor, Ricky Williams, Chris Chambers (Maybe).

THAT'S IT. If you scheme offensive and defensive plays designed to neutralize THOSE 3 guys, this team becomes a sorrry collection of rookies, castoffs, wannabe's and neverwere's.

There's no talnet here, yet. There will be, but not yet.

FEELEY, FREROTTE, ROSENFELD, GORDON, SCHULTERS, HOWARD, LEE, GILMORE, WELKER, TILLMAN, and on and on... These VETS wouldn't start on ANY NFL team this year or any other year. Yeah, we have a few promising rookies, but potential gets coaches fired. We don't REALLY know how ROTH, CROWDER and DANIELS will do in a real game yet, how they'll handle adversity.

This is a young team running headlong into the brick wall known as lack of NFL caliber talent. Saban has brought together a hell of a college team with these Dolphins, but we're in real trouble here in the NFL.

How many clear misses and terrible throws from both QB's will it take before I get some support for what I'm saying? And WHY am I saying it? Cuz I believe a lot of you fans, like me, suffer terribly during the season. I suffer emotionally like you wouldn't believe. But if my expectations are down and realistic, I watch the games like a passionate observer and not in life or death mode as I usually do. This is about mental stability and well being.

Say it with me, We're Not Going To Be Good and Chances Are We're Going To Be QUITE Bad. For awhile, anyway...

I love my Dolphins and pray for the day that come back strong and focused.

Thank you guys.

GO PHINS!!!!!!

You will enjoy the games a lot more by being realistic then thinking this team is a playoff team and finding out as the games are played. If I were a Dolphin fan I would be looking to see how well Saban could cover up the team's lack of talent in the secondary, offensive line, and quarterback positions. If the Dolphins at least keep it close against the mediocre to bad teams then maybe Saban will be one of the college coach turned pro success stories.

lol no we can't, no one ca. The pre-season, the entire pre-season is there to help make those decisions. And if you think you can more power to you bro. You need to go get a job in the NFL. :D

Not trying to bash you, but these concrete opinions some of you are forming during the pre-season is absolutely silly!

Dude, I didnt even need the pre-season. I made my decision back in April/May timeframe.

I dont need to watch the game's. I know it without watching it. You are the one who needs to be convinced you are wrong. I know I am right. I dont need to see it. It's obvious!

I hope you feel better now that you got that off your chest. I almost didn't finish reading, becuase it was so darn long. Anyway, I'm not going to insult you, but will say that if you believe we're doomed that you don't know as much as you think. First of all Ronnie hasn't set foot on the field yet. Second, you gotta remember these guys haven't played together yet. Third, our QB's are going to be better, when you put it all together. When the lineman become more familiar and the running games there, the QB's will produce (definitely more then last year). And finally our coaching staff is still, replacing, changing, trying, trading, etc. Give them a chance to make it right. I won't agree we were horrible till the seasons over and we didn't improve. It is a rebuilding year and 8 & 8 is an upgrade. (And who knows maybe a wildcard). Have faith.

Not to mention. Last year I think we were 2 & 2 in the preseason, and look what happened. You can't go by the preseason. Again, have faith.

Oh no, the great 1000 all-purpose yard back, by the name of Ronnie Brown. Oh no, he will be a force to reckon with. Big whoopie.

Still going to stick with the, trying to make chicken salad out of chicken sheet QB's, are we?

Dude, the time has passed for an impact player to come our way through FA. Are we going to get us another Lamar Gordon? LOL.

That is a harsh criticism, i ripped yor stuff apart. But, you'll just have to see it with your own eyes I guess, to know you are wrong. More power to ya.

Yeah I'll have to see it for myself. You just sit there and keep reading your crystal ball. By the way your Jets will sukc too.

It's semantics, but, what you posted were opinions, not facts.

There are holes on the team, yes. I agree with that, and, I don't think we'll be above .500 this year.

Everytime somone goes screaming willy-nilly about this thing or that thing in preseason, I remember a job I was on in Cleveland, during the pre-season. Everyone in Cleveland was SCREAMING about the offense, and, how it didn't stretch the field, and, blah blah blah...sky falling, sky falling, blah blah.

The Browns went to the playoffs that year, and, low and behold, the offense had been kept vanilla during pre season for a REASON, and, players were plugged into spots that made differences.

Just becasue you've watched football for X years, doesn't mean that you can just look at two preseason games and state for FACT that the team will suck. You're reacting hysterically.

This team does have some talent, and, it will get more. Hopefully Saban will come up with some schemes to accentuate the talent we have and, hide some flaws.

Again, I think 8-8 is a reach, but, I simply refuse to accept the "chicken little" mantra that's so popular after one loseing season and, two presseason games.

Whatta ya mean that ain't right. LITHO has all the makings of Jet Fan. He knew back in April we'd stink. With that kind of talk, you're not optimistic, hopefull or whatever.

Why can't this team turn it around? I live right outside of Pittsburgh and ya know what .... they're "fans" were saying the same thing at this time last year as well a couple of games into the season. Lets see they just came off a bad season (6-10) they're secondary was awful, and Oline had a lot of ?'s.

Now you can say what you want about Big Ben but he wasn't as outstanding as some believe (just look at his stats). Cowher (who IMO is a very good coach) was able to get his team playing together even though they don't have any superstars. Bettis? Staley? Plexico? Ward? - you don't think our O weapons match up to that?

All I'm sayin is they went from 6-10 to 15-1 and if Saban is able to get the fins on the same page and not make the mistakes this team did last year, why can't we go from 4-12 to 10-6?

Hey LITHO did ya read this. Now here's a TRUE Fin Fan, who doesn't claim to KNOW the future, like you do.

I do not understand this mentality. How can you sit there and take any pride or joy from being correct if that is how things turn out?

Sorry dude I think you just showed your azz.

At any rate to each their own.

Youu bet. I am an NFL fan. Only teams I dont like are the Cowboys and Raiders. I picked the Jets as one of my favorites last year. I picked the Bills this year.

I watch all games every week pal. Unless its Cowboys vs. Raiders.

So, let me guess, now I aint a true Phin fan, since I like the NFL, and aint got my head clear up Flipper's poop shoot, eatting the line of "hype" and PR BS.

Give me something to route for, and I will. This team is dead meat. Saban is a good coach, built a hell-o-nice coaching staff. He doesnt have key players he needs to be successful. He had a bad draft, but I respect the guy, he admitted it, and went out and hired Mueller, which was an awesome move by the way.

I got alot to look forward too, just not this year. But, I understand the limitations, which you dont, and I can accept you dont. Because you dont care to spend the time on your "beloved" Phins, like I do.

But, I am not a "true" fan, I got ya.
