Wes Welker.....team MVP!??

As I read it the key words in your post are "weapon" and "surprise". I interpretted that to mean the best surprise player not on defense. I think that is a shoe in. Chambers, McMichaels, Williams, Brown and even Booker can hardly be categorized as a "surprise". Most don't consider o-linemen as "weapons". So that pretty much narrows the field. I wasn't much of a fan of Welker early last year as he seemed to bobble nearly every single punt. But he showed a good burst and an ability to read his blocks and make yards in the return game. He has looked much improved this preseason and I think that same burst and ability to make people miss him in the open field could make him a valuable possesion receiver in the slot. At very least he is one of the best punt returners in the game and give us some short fields to work with as well as a few scores this year. I am with you, go Wes!!

ricky will probably be team mvp.........even after missing four games i think he will still get 1000 yards......he's not playing because he loves football or wants to win, he is playing to prove everybody wrong and for the money to pay his debt, if he has a big year he gets the money and gets to laugh in the face of every person that doubts his ability..........ricky will surprise you

Ricky will be the MVP i think. He will tear it up come week 6.

So...Welker does just about everything--catches the ball, returns kicks, kicks FGs. Can he play QB?

He might have my vote.

i think we should try him at CB

Who would agree that it could be quite feasible that Wes Welker could indeed be our greatest weapon? Or at least our greatest overlooked weapon?
By the looks of our offense, I think we may be in a lot of games that could be a war of attrition. Good defense, and primarily a running game would make the average starting field position crucial. Wes seems to be a very important part of establishing ourselves with the optimum in field position.

And he seems primed to contribute as the third receiver. I, for one am anticipating that Wes will be the biggest unknown (from a large-scale perspective) and disrected contributor to our success coming into the year and will exit with everyone's respect! I just love underdogs! And this guys my pick as the surprise MVP of the team. What'dya think?
Don't get me wrong I like Welker but he's no Dante Hall now he's a good return man but thats far as I would go.

I think there is positively, absolutely, no way in h-ell Welker is the MVP. I will be suprised if he gets on to the field for much more than the special teams.

Everyone needs to get over the great white hype and understand that Wes is a gutsy guy like Fiedler, but is not by far one of the more gifted WR on the roster. He is clearly behind Chambers, Booker, and Boston. He will play in a few situations. But MVP?

Reality check.
AMEN fIn-atic AMEN!!!! I don't know what in the world some of the people on this board are thinking but you're right they need a REALITY CHECK.

He is one hell of a receiver too. The fact that he kicks field goal is a nice bonus. He is a very good "Football Player".

He is an average receiver, come on guys, he is a good story player with average skills. You guys are unbelievable with this Welker stuff.

He was our best player last year wasn't he? As far as production goes. Hell he was even kicking FGs for us, gotta love the guy. Welker is the man.

Seems like I was hearing this same crap from San Diego fans, the many Miami fans at the beginning of the season last year. You must have been under a rock the whole time between then and now. :shakeno:

I'd take Welker's heart, desire and brains (remember the getting out of bounds and then touching the kickoff , thereby making it spot at the 40 yd. line?!- most people didn't even realize you could do that!), over a lot of others with superior talent. Given his all around talents I'm of the mindset that if you had 53 players like Welker you'd only need 40!

KICK ARSE 'FINS!!!!!
