We've been duped

Gus did throw for a touchdown in the preseason .. BUT he himself admitted that the ball was not being thrown to who caught it .. it had slipped from his hand!..lol

It was always Gus's job. He is Linehan's buddy.

If you look at all preseason games combined, there was nothing to indicate Gus wins. In fact Gus never even scored a TD. and missed terribly on open WRs.

No doubt neither are starting caliber, but I would rather see Sage get a shot. At least he showed fire and the ability to make plays. Gus was as benign and inaffective as well...Jay Fiedler.

Gus Fiedler.

Open comment to Nick Saban:

Nick you better pull a rabbut out of your a$$ on the QB. You picked up no answer here, and you drafted no future (and there was some good young talent there). YOU have handicapped this team going into the season by failing to address the most important position, one everyone knew was a problem. Strike one.

Who from free agency or the draft woul dhe have drafted that would have been our future? I share the opinion with Saban that you dont buy rotten apples just because it's the only thing for sell.

Maybe Frerotte wasn't brought in to compete with Feeley, but as protection in case Feeley failed. I don't mean "failed" like he got an F on a test or fell asleep in a meeting. He fell asleep at the wheel. He got an F in a course of desire 101. No one thinks Frerotte is the answer, but the question isn't about him. The only one that tried to answer the questions is Sage, and I think he got a "C+".

Although I agree that Gus was given an edge in the "competition" since he knew the system. But here is an alternative explanation that I prefer to believe at least at this point. It has been widely reported that the playbook we are seeing in preseason is NOT the one the team will use in the regular season. We only see the players on game day. The coaching staff sees them in practice every day as well as in meetings. Then each week we see them take the field and attempt to execute plays other than those they have been practicing all week. It is entirely possible that to us Gus appears to have no advantage because we have not seen him in the real system that he is familiar with yet. As far as Fin-atic is concerned, and those who criticized him, I know him VERY well. Do not mistake his passion for this team returning to their glorious past as anything else. Fin-atic is as fine a person as ANY on this forum I guarantee it.

the rug was pulled right from out under our feet!

the tragedy!

Fin-atic, You should be a Patriot fan.. I hear they've won 3 out of the last 4 superbowls.

What makes you so confident of that???...

I was at the mini's / training camps, and it looked like Feeley got his chance to compete for the starting position to me.....

During the pre-season, although Frerotte had more time with the first team, Feeley had every chance to shine just as Rosenfels did. You see what happedn there. Sage played better, and is now ahead of him....

I don't think it's accurate of you to say there "never" was a QB competition. I saw one, it wasn't very heated, but it was there....

It was always Gus's job. He is Linehan's buddy.

It was always his to lose. That's based on the fact that he has more experience working this offense brought in by Linehan. As for him being his buddy, I think you're reaching on that one. Sure, Linehan probably favors Frerotte, but it's based on Frerotte knowing the system....

If you look at all preseason games combined, there was nothing to indicate Gus wins.

I could say the same of Feeley. What has he done that Frerotte can't do???

In fact Gus never even scored a TD.

Wrong. He threw a TD against the Bears in Canton, I know, I was there....

and missed terribly on open WRs.

Most of his misses have been overthrows. Something that can be adjusted, and fixed with timing. Feeley is still throwing picks for TD's, and the other night he was so bad, he was booed off the field when his passes came up lame time after time....

No doubt neither are starting caliber, but I would rather see Sage get a shot. At least he showed fire and the ability to make plays.

I agree with you here. I like the way Sage is starting to come around, and if anything happens to Frerotte now we've got him in the mix. I'm not sure about you, but I'm happy about that....

I suppose you wanted Rodgers???...

Don't sweat it, there'll be more where he came from.....

Based upon what ? lets count the pro bowlers saban has gotten rid of since he has been here Knight, Surtain, was chester a pro bowler? I think so, Saban hasn't doen anything he hasn't earned anything until we win games and if we don't win games it will be on his desicions, I hate mueller but this isn't mueller doign this this is Sabans ****y attitide and the ol'e ballcoach spurrier had the same attitude and it blew up in his face!

wait I forgot about Bowens yet he was injured, and next year he will try to get rid of sam and zach and then if taylor wont play for the chump change saban wants him to play for he will be gone also!
If you've seen Surtain's preseason games in KC he looks like he's washed up. Knight was a Pro Bowler (if he even actually was) due to our system. Chester was a fat tub of lard that wouldn't even be capable of playing until week 6 at the earliest.

Quit being a baby because some players are gone. Saban knows football better than any of us and cleaning up the Wannstedt-era rubbish is fine by me. This has been our best offseason in a long-time (probably since '83).

Rome wasn't built in a day. If we can't find a QB this year, we'll get one after the season.

oh ma gawd!!!!!! this is hallarious. look they all suck. all of them. not just gus or a.j. but allllllllllllll of them. hahahaha. i can just see a.j. in camp throwing 95 yard tds, but linehan dances like a circus monkey so saban dont see it. there is no conspiracy. the ONLY reason gus got the nod is because he is familiar with this offense or more so than feely.

Uh I think everyone knows that Gus fumbled for a TD, but last I remember McMike totally got blown by...and it wasn't like he threw the ball 3 yards behind his receiver like Feeley.
