No, full rebuilds should be done very rarely, stability is how you build a franchise and attract good FA.....when you pick a coach you should give him 5 yrs to win a SB, 3 yrs to show improvement and to reach playoffs.....

Carolina fired their GM this past offseason. And replaced their offensive coordinator when Chud got hired by the Browns.
What stability are you talking about? John Fox took that team to a Super Bowl and got FIRED after a couple of down years.
I would fully expect Philbin to back and support his coaches! That is part of leadership......something many on the site think he doesn't have.
That doesn't mean the right decision (to make a change from Sherman) will not be made. But as a boss, I would have less respect for my head coach if he said one of his key employees was terrible.
Lets let this play out. Some change is in the air........

Ron Rivera - has been on the hot seat for the last two years.....even the beginning of this year, until he turned it around.
I think Fox had a pretty good run there. I think the relationships started to deteriorate....not his coaching ability. That is why he wasn't unemployed long.

Nonsense. Making a change doesn't guarantee any cycle continuing, nor does it guarantee failure, nor does it guarantee success. We might keep Philbin and improve; we might keep Philbin and continue to be mediocre. We might fire Philbin and get someone who becomes a great coach; we might fire Philbin and get someone that is a lousy coach. There are no guarantees.
You will never know if you have someone if you keep turning over the coaching staff and or front office.....I say Jeff stays with Philbin and if they can't get the job done together than we clean house, not a piece here and piece there....give them a chance to succeed if they can't then blow the whole thing up
Detroit gave the staff an opportunity to succeed they did not so you move on...better example is the Raiders every two yrs new coaching staff, Browns after 1 yr new coaching staff, we have to fight the urge to do something just because we didn't make the playoffs......give the guy what he says he needs to succeed and then hold him accountable for it, two yrs is not enough time, not fair to him or the fans to fire someone just because it will make some people feel better, the only thing that will make me feel better is making the playoffs next yr.....
Dallas is a terrible example, when the owner is the GM you get what you get, that's not stability.....

You can call it nonsense if you want. Bottom line is: Miami is ALREADY in that cycle of futility and has been for nearly 15 years. My point has already been proven. The day they clean a house and it actually turns them into a SB contender, I will gladly come in here and eat crow.
Let me frame my argument another way: I'm absolutely certain that Miami can do better at GM. Thus, I think they should fire Ireland. I'm absolutely certain that they can do better at OC. Thus, I want them to fire Sherman. When I look at the potential HC candidates out there, there is not one that I can say looks head and shoulders better than Philbin. Thus, I'm reluctant to see him fired.
For what it's worth, I think Miami missed the boat big time when they passed on Mike McCoy. I've been far from a Philbin apologist.

Losing the last 2 weeks was the writing on the wall for Joe and Jeff. Time to go. It is tough to get to the Playoffs. Been waiting, what like 5 years, and 13 years since a win, and all we had to get in was win against the Jets or Bills, unacceptable Dude. Time to bring a new culture and attitude. Its our time Dude, maybe in 2014, not this weekend
